iPhone 16 Pro weight has increased too much for me. More interested in regular 16 or 15 Pro (to replace my iPhone 13) due to weight.
The weight of the 15 Pro is one of the main reasons I was finally willing to replace my 13 mini. And even with that said, it still weighs more than I'm actually comfortable with -- my fingers and wrist usually hurt after about 10-20 minutes of continuous use at the 15 Pro's size and weight. It baffles me that some tolerate, or actually prefer, the size and weight of a Pro Max.

And of course now with the 16 Pros, it wouldn't be Apple if they didn't rush back in the very next model to make it bigger and heavier. iPhone 20 is gonna have to weigh 8 lbs and be the same size as an iPad Pro 11 to keep up.

I think another reason why there may be low demand for the Pro’s is because of there new sizes. People don’t know yet if they want a bigger size iPhone. They will test out how the size feels in there hands 🤚 first and then will make a decision.

I mean you talk about Apple AI at WWDC. You talk about the same exact thing at iPhone event, and you don’t even release those features when the phone comes out. That’s pretty sad. Can’t even release the mail app. And the mail app won’t even come until 18.2 at the earliest. Pretty pathetic. Yet I still bought it because I been getting every iPhone every year… but this year is just not the same and I might actually just return it.

It’s been all about the shareholders for their AI garbage.

Colors are pretty much hot garbage too. It’s rinse and repeat of the same colors over and over and over and over and over again.

Bet they release a nice color in the spring like they did with the green device just to give a massive middle finger to early adopters.

Regular pro’s are available launch day, Pro Max’s are Mid October with the regular 256gb end September 🤷‍♂️

I have been upgrading every year for the last 5 or 6 years since we now have teenagers and I usually get the latest Pro Max model and wife and kids get the latest options we have at home. This time I skipped the 16. There was not much there to make me excited and my 15 Pro Max is impeccable. Too bad Apple couldn’t make the 16 Pro Max appealing enough for me to pull the trigger.

This. Everyone looks for the sexy features but ignores the useful refinements. For the pro it’s about the better battery life, faster modem, WiFi 7, additional button for photography and video, faster charging, and 48MP wide angle. Most of the features that are important to me didn’t even get a mention. Meanwhile the tentpole feature, like AI, which was touted is completely irrelevant to me.
Same. The only reason I'd even be interested in upgrading is for the Qualcomm X75, the improved optical zoom, and improved telephoto. Couldn't care less about Apple Intelligence either.

I just want to make sure I secure an upgrade the year before Apple starts forcing their Intel-heritage modems on us and the newest iPhones regress 3 years in cellular performance.

Earnings announcement eo Oct/early Nov will show some trend, eo Jan/early Feb 2025 will tell the real story, until then: long live rumors!
Absolutely. More so this year. The Q4 2024 ending this month should give pretty good indication of it is supply chain availability unlike in the past or slower demand at launch. By Jan: Feb 2025, it will give a better picture on the iPhone 16 launch.

my 12 is still doing just fine but once the AI features launch I may be interested in a 16 next year when the price drops

I never pre-order. I will just walk into my local carrier store and upgrade to 16 Pro Max. Hopefully they have Desert Titanium. If not, the other colours are also good.

The main feature of this year iPhone, Apple Inteligence, is not going to be available at launch. Outside the US we don’t have a release date, and in Europe we don’t know if it is going to be available before iPhone 17 come out.

I wanted to upgrade my iPhone 13 Pro to an iPhone 16 Pro Max, but after what they show I can definitely wait another year.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo today said demand for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max has been "lower than expected" since the devices became available to pre-order in the U.S. and dozens of other countries on Friday. Kuo said his data is based on a "supply chain survey" and shipping estimates listed on Apple's online store.

Kuo estimated that sales of all four iPhone 16 models reached about 37 million units in the first weekend after Apple began accepting pre-orders, which is down nearly 13% compared to first-weekend sales of the iPhone 15 series last year. The analyst said a key factor for the decline is the lower demand for the Pro models, with first-weekend sales of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max estimated to be down 27% and 16%, respectively, compared to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max sales during the equivalent period last year.

The standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have seen higher demand than the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus during the first weekend of sales, but this has not been enough to offset the lower demand for the Pro models, according to Kuo.

Kuo said a major reason for the iPhone 16 Pro models having lower-than-expected demand is that Apple Intelligence will not be available on the devices when they launch on Friday. Instead, the first Apple Intelligence features are rolling out with iOS 18.1 in October. In addition, the analyst said the iPhone is facing "intense competition" in China.

This year will be terrible. The least they could've done is added 12gb of ram to the pro max. Now it is guaranteed the iPhone 16 pros will get discontinued just like the 15 to make way for fake AI support long term. Even a pixel has a better display with more brightness that's how sad iphones are now

I bet Verizon had some to do with this dip. 2 years ago they stopped offering 24month financing and it’s now 36month. Usually I and other relatives would upgrade now but have 12 more months to pay off on the iPhone 14Pro
It's not just Verizon. AT&T does 36 months on consumer accounts now, too. Last time my family went through an upgrade cycle, it was 30 months.

I've said for years that this is just driving up the price of phones. If these 36-month deals go back to 24 months, the per-month cost of the devices will inherently go up. Sales will drop. And in a few years, Apple (and the other manufacturers) would be forced to rein in prices by taking less profit. Still making a fortune every release cycle, just less of a fortune.

But since carriers prefer to lock people in for longer (keep in mind that most of these 36-month payment deals tie some form of a promo or trade-in credit to that same 36-month schedule), the carriers have no incentive to reverse course. If it were up to them they'd put phones on 72-month payment plans so that they could peddle iPhone Pro Maxes to teenagers making minimum wage just so they'd be able to say it "only" costs $5/mo to upgrade.

It's borderline predatory how carriers have steered so many people into buying $1000+ phones that they can't afford and don't even use 80% of the features of, while holding them hostage with billing credits that take 3 years to pay out. Need to switch your family of 4 to a different carrier because you moved and there's no signal at your new home, or their crappy network got congested at work? Good luck. That'll be $3000 or $4000 due next cycle as soon as you port the lines out.

The sad thing is that nobody seems to really care. I feel like every time I've brought this up, all the feedback is basically just a massaged version of "it helps people buy phones they don't need with money they don't have." And somehow that's supposed to be a good thing. The same thing happened when home mortgages started moving from 15-year to 30-year, and car loans moving up from the standard 36-month to 72+ months. People just spend more because they can spread it out longer, while the actual price and time spent in debt (plus additional interest, in the case of home and auto) increases.

If it's "lower than expected," then how come I didn't get a shipping estimate of September 20th despite trying to finalize my "Get Ready" not just on time but early, and losing valuable minutes on this screen?

I wonder, if demand had been higher than expected, I probably would've been quoted a delivery date of December!

I had my Apple Store app end up on this screen and I had multiple browsers trying to break through.
I ordered an hour late and secured a launch day arrival.

I’m not upgrading from my 14 Pro 1Tb. I’ll upgrade when it makes sense to; when I run out of storage (I currently have just under 300Gbs of storage left, so hopefully they’ll offer 2Tb models soon) or when battery life isn’t great, even after a replacement, running newer software.

I was set on getting a new battery around now, but I found out it would cost me money even though I’m on AC+ because my battery health isn’t below 80%. Also, since uninstalling social media apps & not aimlessly scrolling on them, my phone has been lasting the day.
