i know it’s a 15s update - i upgraded after hemming and hawing to better hold the value of the phone for the 17 line

but i did drop from the max to the standard pro because i miss being able to put my phone in my pocket

I am surprised Apple missed the ball on Apple Intelligence coming out when iPhone 16 did. Hype Apple Intelligence all summer. Release a new iPhone afterward. Then tell everyone right before launch that THE reason to upgrade won't exist for another several weeks to months, and then it will only trickle in.

I was seriously considering getting the 16PM but I then realized that my 14PM will be very similar to it once I load iOS 18. Well, other than the slightly larger screen and a few other things that don’t really matter to me.

I definitely upgraded to the new iPhone 16 promax which I do every year, but I know a lot of people who are sticking to the 14 Pro Max still until Apple decides to make some more changes besides upgrading camera and some other minor stuff. Apple needs to do a better job.

My iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB was the latest "annual upgrade" for me and and, as usual, I paid cash and gave my iPhone 13 Pro Max to my wife.. Since the first iPhone, I have upgraded annually.

For the iPhone 15 Pro Max and now the iPhone 16 Pro Max, I used Apple's model comparison tables to see if there was enough change to justify the over $1800 outright purchase price (even with military discount) for a 1TB with Apple Care + and Sales tax. Maybe next year all three cameras will be same image size, the core memory will be over 8 to provide breathing room for AI, and we will know if Apple's WiFi 7 modem is a success or flop. Towards the end of this year, I will upgrade the batteries in my wife's model 13 and my model 14.

I am more interested in comparing my M1 generation 14" MacBook Pro Max and Ultra MacStudio to the M4 models coming out perhaps in October. There is a good chance this will be the last year for the M1 design laptop chassis and I have a laptop stand that could use the M4 if it is the same design. Probably will go to the 16" due to my vision clarity declining due to age.

Apple ordered little supply hence the iPhone selling out to the few that pre ordered. Apple needs to up there game, for the prices they are asking incremental changes just won’t do anymore.

For example for myself a phone with an aging design, a larger display, a few new flashy buttons & first gen AI is not that enticing.

Once again they should go back to “S” release years. By releasing a solid upgrade every other year, and a minor upgrade in between, it would build excitement for those non-“S” years. The last I saw the average number of years to upgrade a phone is just over 3 years. Many people are stretching to 4+ years nowadays. By having bigger releases every other year people may once again consider upgrading more often.

Sadly every year since the iPhone X is a S year now :(

Well with the full version of ai which apple advertise in the presentation will only come 18.2-18.4 onwards, might as well wait for iphone 17. Not surprise if the sales dip , guess apple need to step out of their comfort zone for once to really make changes that justify upgrade

I mean I am undeniably an apple fan. But even I cant figure out what the new feature is from last year. Yes camera capture is new 'hardware'. But how on earth is that button than just pressing the touch screen control?

I mean I can see a hardware button being useful if it's used more like a DSLR (half press to focus), except you cant even focus in an iPhone. Everything is already in focus lol (or very close to).

So I applaud them for making new hardware. But it's really weird that Apple has now fallen into this world where they are adding new for the sake of new.

If it's "lower than expected," then how come I didn't get a shipping estimate of September 20th despite trying to finalize my "Get Ready" not just on time but early, and losing valuable minutes on this screen?

I wonder, if demand had been higher than expected, I probably would've been quoted a delivery date of December!

I had my Apple Store app end up on this screen and I had multiple browsers trying to break through.

They were a million people ahead of you.

An incremental update with a main feature not available at launch. How could anyone, especially Apple, be shocked by this?
Sooner or later, Apple must get themselves out of this annual cycle. Maybe it’s time to rip that bandaid off.

Or simply put, the US Govt’s schizophrenic trade policy against China and its various tech entities has soured Apple’s reputation in the world’s largest smartphone market. So suck it up and leave it at that.

iPhone 16 Pro weight has increased too much for me. More interested in regular 16 or 15 Pro (to replace my iPhone 13) due to weight.
That doesn't make any sense.

I hope you are aware that the 16 Pro weighs less than your 13 pro despite being a larger case, having a larger effective display, periscope 5x zoom camera and a few other changes.
