Thanks for all the updates! How does the Apple silicone case work with the camera control button? Does it feel similar to using it naked?

Very curious this year about how the cases are going to work with this.

Another year, another iPhone launch!

I turned up to Apple Broadway in Sydney at 8.30 this morning and picked up my iPhone 16 Pro Max in Desert Titanium
There wasn’t much of queue and I was in and out of the store in 15 mins. As it’s not the flagship store, it was much less chaotic and civilised than the George St store in the Sydney CBD.

First impressions:
  • LOVE the Desert Titanium. It appears bronze in certain lighting and sometimes rose gold. Reminiscent of the rose gold 6s Plus that I had but maybe one shade darker. The back panel is what some would call a “nude” colour
  • The phone is not that much heavier than the 15 PM.
  • Bezels are definitely smaller than the 15 PM and it’s very noticeable to the naked eye.
  • Camera control button is okay/meh. It's in an awkward position to reach in landscape and you have to grip the phone in an unnatural manner.
Pics below. Cases include Apple silicone in Lake Green and Beats case in sunset purple. I actually like the sunset purple Beats case more even though some think it’s too glossy/plasticky.

Last pic is a direct comparison against a 12 mini (I know from the smallest to the biggest iPhone! I sold my 15 PM a few weeks ago and had to use the 12 mini as a backup...)

Happy to take any questions!

Great pictures! Compared to the 15 PM, how noticeable is the increased width and height of the 16 PM? I understand it is slightly heavier (which isn't a big deal to me, because it's still lighter than the 13 PM and 14 PM), but do you notice any additional strain on your hands/fingers when using the phone one-handed?

You can definitely tell it’s taller but the increased in width isn’t noticeable.
Not any worse in terms of weight if you’re used to the 15PM already.

I've just picked up my iPhone 16 Pro.
First time with a smaller phone since launch day of the Max on iPhones.
So far, so good. Obviously noticeably lighter coming from the Pro Max.
The next few days will be telling for me.
I've gone for the Max for the first time ever. I did prefer the smaller size so it would fit in my pockets, but my eyes are not getting any younger. If I want to be able to read anything when I don't have my glasses on, I need the bigger screen. If that means I need to carry a bag or get one of those, so be it.

I was looking forward to this thread. Thanks @Boardiesboi, hope you enjoy the new iPhone, that color looks great!

When you were in the store to pick up, were you able to hold a 16 Pro? If you were, how would you compare the 16 Pro weight distribution to the 16 Pro Max? In the past the Pro models have felt heavier to me in the hand even though they aren’t. I’m curious if the slightly taller device helps with the weight distribution.
You’re looking for the “density” metrics. That’s how heavy it feels. And no, the 16 Pro is actually worse than the 15 Pro in that regard:
