iPhone 16 Pro Max iPhone 16 Pro Max is here! First impressions and photos thread

Is the black titanium darker than the 15 pro? Many review say that.

I turned up to Apple Broadway in Sydney at 8.30 this morning and picked up my iPhone 16 Pro Max in Desert Titanium
There wasn’t much of queue and I was in and out of the store in 15 mins. As it’s not the flagship store, it was much less chaotic and civilised than the George St store in the Sydney CBD.

First impressions:
  • LOVE the Desert Titanium. It appears bronze in certain lighting and sometimes rose gold. Reminiscent of the rose gold 6s Plus that I had but maybe one shade darker. The back panel is what some would call a “nude” colour
  • The phone is not that much heavier than the 15 PM.
  • Bezels are definitely smaller than the 15 PM and it’s very noticeable to the naked eye.
  • Camera control button is okay/meh. It's in an awkward position to reach in landscape and you have to grip the phone in an unnatural manner.
Pics below. Cases include Apple silicone in Lake Green and Beats case in sunset purple. I actually like the sunset purple Beats case more even though some think it’s too glossy/plasticky.

Last pic is a direct comparison against a 12 mini (I know from the smallest to the biggest iPhone! I sold my 15 PM a few weeks ago and had to use the 12 mini as a backup...)

Looks like last years and the same gold from previous models.

I have the natural titanium 15 Pro, and I like it quite a lot, but I really liked the look of the Desert in the Apple photos, but some of the videos at the hands on area really made me question things...and I was very much on the fence when I pre-ordered.. Looking at these photos, plus a lot more of the review videos from Wednesday, I think I made the right choice. I also really liked (and like in these photos) how the gold would look in cases, as I'm a case hound...the lake green silicone looks awesome, and I think it'll also look great in my blue leather Andar, as well as a dark brown leather case, which I'll probably get from bullstrap here shortly.

What do you care. You are slapping an ugly case on it. It’s the same gold from previous years.

My T-Mobile tracking was at a standstill until sometime between 1-4:30 this morning and I had lost hope of a launch day delivery. Desert Titanium 16PM 256 will be here 10:15–12:15 est, I’m up and very caffeinated so I’m vibrating while staring out the window ready to go! Congrats on all your shiny new toys :D

The camera cutout shows color and will look awesome with the lake green case. I’m using a clear case for now but if I get another case it’ll be the lake green silicone. Haven’t had a gold phone since 6S+ which was gorgeous and also in a clear case, I still have it.

Went to see the new iPhones. Natural is the same as last year. Desert is similar to 12 Pro. Not impressed

How is the heat compared to the 15 pro max? Under normal use, when using the cameras and charging?

Can you take a full A4 macro documents normal or does it return to normal camera because of the distance. This happened to 15PM and we would have to take photo in 0.9 to make it look good

I’m hoping it’s better than my 15PM, which gets pretty toasty when I’m doing an hour plus of filming skate tricks. Of course it’s better during cold weather haha the summer sun and heat have been killer. It gets so hot, screen goes dark, and it hemorrhages battery charge.

I hope it’s better too. Apparently this is a hard first impression to provide, as I’ve seen it asked several times… but hey, look at the color!
