The reviewers are obsessed with telling me not it’s not worth upgrading (iPhone is too similar to last year’s), but the majority of upgraders are coming from 2-4 year old phones. Odd that they don’t seem to understand this.
I think when your job is basically opening boxes containing new phones, you’re probably always chasing that high from the iPhone 4 or the iPhone X, where even compared to the model from 12 months ago it felt like a science fiction prop.

According to the Verge, photos are even more washed out compared to those from older versions of the phone. You can adjust highlights and shadows via new style options but doing so means you'll need to shoot in HEIF, which is something I refuse to do. The only other workaround I can see is shooting in RAW and lowering exposure.

Interesting!! Well, that tells me that it must have something to do with that new sensor and the updated ProRAW format. Usually, I drop my exposure by one stop anyway to give a richer more colorful photo, and lift shadows in Lightroom during editing. i’ll have to wait and see what Austin says on his video if he mentions that or not.

Well I finished Austin’s video, not bad, but I wish he provided more photos with 100% crops and focused more on night mode, lens flare, and overall camera improvements. I suppose I’ll have to test those out myself this weekend ….if my 16 pro max units arrive By Friday.

The best looking phone is pretty clearly the 16 ultramarine. If it had 120 hz / always on, it would be an insta-buy for me. I may still buy it as my 14 Pro max is sitting at 86% battery. Not feeling the pro phones this year in term of feature set / looks. Maybe I wait for another year...
Right but most phones hide under their cases

I am sure he is contradicting himself just like how apple refuse to call camera control a “button” lol
It’s pretty obvious why they won’t call it a button - it is a button, but with interesting and new capabilities that calling it a “button” overlooks or minimises. Because when people hear that word they think of a single analog mechanism, not a touch-control capacitive interface that also functions as a button.

Only to people who never saw the Nokia N9, which admittedly is most of America. But excluding Face ID that phone was the iPhone X and introduced the idea of no home screen button and the swipe UX. I had a review one for a while and it felt like the obvious future of phones.

I really like the camera module on the 16s and that ultramarine looks great. If only they had ProMotion.
Yep literally the only reason my wife got the Pro over the regular 16 this year, coming from a 14 Pro. And that’s probably why Apple does it.

Anyone saying anything about the improved heating? Personally, this is the only aspect I am interested in and would make me prefer this instead of the 15 pro or 15 pro max…

When the battery life is really that good it's the best upgrade ever. But I guess that depends on what your personal preferences are. Mine is definitely the battery
I should have never posted my ranting here, I don’t mind a longer battery life too. :)

Fire up 4K 120 for a few minutes, and you'll definitely notice the improved heating my friend. 😃

The just now uploaded review from Austin Mann regarding the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max. This is a full review with a 21 minute long video. He has reviewed iPhones in the past, he skipped last year but this year he did a new review. I realize that several of you were asking about reviews and saying that there weren’t any good ones out but, Austin is a travel photographer. So enjoy.

Wow, what a horrible review. The guy yaps on for 20 straight minutes—barely shows a single photo. Well, bless his heart.
