The 15 line is clearly a “S” year. Nice upgrades but not nearly as compelling as the 16 line in 2024 will be. Still gonna upgrade this year though.
I really like my 14 ProMax a lot and the features of the 15 Pro are Meh to me really a boring “S” year personally the camera stuff compels me each year and the early periscope stuff is not good enough sounds better in 16. We shall see if rumors are wrong and there is more to 15 ProMax I reserve right to make final decision then LOL

I agree with you and see that as optimistic.
Can you share your thoughts why?
Apple has a recent trend record of not adding wifi or cellular chips until they reach 2nd gen.

First gen chips always seems to be power hungry and apple is unwilling to adopt new standards at the cost of shorter battery life. (Also most consumers will not have wifi 7 routers next year, yet alone 6E).

I also believe that apple wants to avoid rushing a chip into a device. Apple sells millions of devices and if a first gen chip has a defect, it could spell disaster for apple. So let the technology mature first.

Apple also did this with 3G (first iPhone still had Edge or 2.5G, which everyone laughed at) and they were behind to adopt 4G, LTE, and 5G. That’s because they waited for the second gen chips for each standard.

Most of the people reading this get the iPhone every year. Most regular people are still on 8’s and XR’s if not earlier. And the 14 was just a 13S… blah. They need to switch the naming from numbers and maybe go to 18 month updates for phone and iOS, just as the bugs are worked out they release a new version, why?

I'm sitting here with the iPhone 12 Pro with an itch to upgrade: the 13P was not compelling other than improved daily battery life; the 14P almost won me over; waiting on the 15; now this tease ...
I have been on the AUP for years and this may be the first year I skip and also buy local when I can snag a 16 ProMax. Apple stores are 100 miles or more, Best Buy is local for me (upgraded my AW to ultra, a new 16 M2 Pro MacBook Pro and 2TB gen 6 12.9 iPad Pro from there with my applecare. So I might go back to getting iphone there and not having the agrivating wait to get on to order for opening day an miss about half the time and have to wait a long 3-4 day period to get in October when I am gone a lot. Will be peaceful and just order from Best Buy. But I have to save fo this then for year since I am leaving AUP payments if I do this

I thought the 14 was an “S” year. Haven’t made up my mind about upgrading. Waiting to see prices and final specs - especially weight and battery life. I don’t care about the camera, which I would only use in an absolute pinch anyway.

Can we please just get to the iPhone 15 series first lol.
Well so far for some of us (with 14 ProMax’s perhaps) find the 15 rumors kind of Meh for upgrading so we are focusing on why we are waiting for 16 pro line with rumors of things we do want LOL

Well having been on AUP program for many years the camera would always draw me in. That is the key feature I use a lot on my phone (phone being least LOL). Then other features come second. I have 14 ProMax for camera improvements I like over previous 13 ProMax so it does not seem “S” to me. Speed of processor are gettin so fast those are now Meh also LOL.

The iPhone 15 is not even a S year. I am on a XS Max and I think the 15 Pro Max would be more like an XS Max S. No real improvements. The camera seems still beeing very bad. I will wait for the 16 Ultra or the 17 Ultra Max Pro.

The 16 Pro is shaping up to be quite the upgrade. 48MP ultra wide lens, periscope lens (6x) that the 15 Pro Max got, WiFi 7 (maybe), stacked battery for improved battery life, LPDDR5X RAM, slightly larger display, possibly a noticeable redesign, etc.

This isn’t helping my already waning enthusiasm for the 15.
My 12PM is still working great and so far the 15 just isn't pulling my wallet.

I was going to skip the phone and pick up my first AW, but yesterday's articles are all "next year's AW X is the one you want"...

Wait until you hear about the 17 Pro… That phone is going to blow your socks off… 💫. Of course, the 17 is nothing in comparison to the 18. And then there the iPhone 20 Pro.. OMG! 😱
