iPhone 16 Pro Said to Feature Wi-Fi 7 Support, 48MP Ultra Wide Camera

Upgrading a home network to Wi-Fi 7 will cost almost as much as the phone. 6 GHz is good but its range is even less than 5 GHz, so you need several access points in a medium to large house. Today you could spend $800 or even $1,200 on the upgrade plus the cost of pulling Ethernet cable to the access points (you REALLY want to use wire for this.)

It can be a bit of a challenge and definitely something to keep in mind unless you are good with multiple access points.
I centrally located (single access point) and found I can get 6/6e throughout. The shape and single floor ranch style helps. All interior points are within 40 feet or less.

Also don't forget, that 16 Pro will come with new M13 material set for the display unlike the 15 Pro, N3E A18, LPDDR5X (was rumored), stacked battery tech and etcs. Even @Unknownz21 said 16 Pro is much more exciting model.
Hi! Tell me more! Where did you read about the new OLED material? Will It be only aimed at pro models, or to all the iPhone 16 models?

Another big improvement will be stacked batteries, but again, I’m not sure if they will be exclusive for the pro models.

I am not really interested in the 16 pro models, because of the huge size, so hopefully most of this generational improvements will make it to the regular iPhones as well.

48 Megapixels is a scam on the iPhone. Pixel binning is used almost all the time.

I'd be curious to know how many 48 Megapixels pictures I took with my 14 Pro across the hundreds of pictures I took with it. No matter what lens, no matter how much light, no matter what photo mode... it seems like I almost never take 48 Megapixels pictures.

Will faster WiFi speeds enable me to watch TV shows and cat videos faster just like when modems went from 300 to 1200 baud made it possible to read faster?
Ahh, modems. I was around, but not active, in the 300 baud days. I started at 1200. But there were plenty of people still using 300's.

Most of the people shaping the way we use the internet now didn't even exist then.

Why do I say things like that and make myself feel old?

Still on the X. Have been waiting for USBC since the 13, and the thin Android-esque bezels. Will probably upgrade this year if the battery longevity is better than the 14 Pros.

Otherwise, it’ll be interesting, for the first time, running an OS that is not being updated, not that it’s even remotely sluggish relative to previous phones such as the iPhone 6. I could keep this for at least a year or more. The software improvements are incredibly iterative at this time.

WiFi 7 is what I want to know more about because I think it's what Apple will use on VP gen 2 and M3/M4 MBP to allow more than one virtual 4k Mac display on Vision Pro.

1. Networking chips companies already building and testing their version of WiFi-7(802.11be) router and client devices chips.
2. WiFi-7 specs are going through versions and final/ratified version will be out in 2024 but as usual companies don't wait for the final version long as hardware part is settled. Firmware/software can be updated all along.
3. Apple already bought networking chips team from Intel and also created significant engineering presence in San Diego area to bring in-house design of networking chips.
4. Intel announced. "We are currently developing Intel's Wi-Fi '802.11be' in order to obtain the 'Wi-Fi Alliance' certification, and it will be installed in PC products such as laptops by 2024," said Eric McLaughlin, vice president of Intel's wireless solutions division, at a press conference in South Korea. "We expect it to appear in major markets in 2025."
5. Timing wise iPhone 16 is perfect for adding WiFi-7. IPhone 16 has to offer something more for consumers to look forward to upgrade. WiFi 7 is one good check mark.
6. Client devices like phones always have implemented newer version of WiFi sooner than wide spread adoption by people in routers.

I'm sitting here with the iPhone 12 Pro with an itch to upgrade: the 13P was not compelling other than improved daily battery life; the 14P almost won me over; waiting on the 15; now this tease ...
I had a 12 Pro and then got the 13 Pro, the camera's and battery is night and day on the 13 Pro and the notch is much smaller.
You're getting poor info from somewhere

I was going to upgrade my 13 Pro to 15 Pro Max but after hearing the 16 Pro will go up to 6.3 inches, that sounds like the sweet spot for me. Ugh what to do. I may just live for the moment and get 15 Pro Max and sell it next year.

Still holding onto my AW S5 as the X is supposed to be the big redesign finally.
