your phone has a headphone jack?
If this will be the case,5 years from now, samsung, apple and all others will make phones without charging ports...so you will have to or stick with low end phones until 2035

If iPhones really do go portless, they're going to need that rumoured cooling redesign. My phone got insanely hot wireless charging while using wireless CarPlay last time I was in a car that offered these features.

I use wireless charging all the time but I do keep it out of direct sunlight while charging. The only time I have had a real issue with heat in the car was while using one of those windshield mounted cradles and a wired charger, with a black phone, and in the direct sunlight (since it was in the cradle).

Never had an issue with heat while wireless charging and while keeping the phone in the console and out of direct sunlight.

I do have A/C in the car of course, and on hot days that's taking the edge off I'm sure.

So, the reason EU forced all Electronic manufactures to add USB-C port was to minimise need of buying a charger. Yes, I use my Anker charger which I bought 3-4 years ago with my iPhone 15 PM, Macbook, iPad etc. If I am visiting someone who use an Android, I can charge my iPhone with their USB-C charger.
But, none of my friends or I use a magsafe charger, not even a Qi charger. I don't even use the wireless charger in my car to charge iPhone!. So, if Apple is releasing an iPhone without charging port, Everyone will be forced to buy a Magsafe charger. And people will always need to carry it around.
So, I DON'T think that Apple will remove the USB-C port from iPhone any time soon.

If you often use inductive charging on your car, make sure your car has ventilated inductive charging that doenst heat your phone massively
Built in ventilated car wireless charging are also in a lower placed location that the sun doesnt reach

Well, then we would still have laptops with optical drives etc etc …
Everyone here is complaining these days how Apple is “lagging” and not “innovative” anymore, yet, a rumor (RUMOR) that they might remove a port in the future - same outrage.
Mind boggling

I do more than plug in my phone to charge. I use it to backup, to transfer photos and videos. WiFi is A LOT slower.

..and I said earlier, I refuse to go back to a proprietary charging system. I'm absolutely sick of proprietary cables and charges and would rather change ecosystems than carry another cable.

what? maybe you have wifi 5.. since Wifi is advancing year by year...wifi 7 is already faster than usb2/3 transfers that iphones are allowed with their cable. Apple they will not put TB4/5 in the iphones

Especially secure backups. Need to plug your phone directly into your computer to do that

I agree on proprietary ports, don’t want them.
I plug my 13PM in to backup, but that could be done wirelessly already. And I transfer my photos via airdrop, works just fine. And I charge via MagSafe.
I don’t really care if the port will be removed in the future, there will be options to do all these things it’s used for today.

You have WiFi 7 on your MacBook? No, you don't.

People, if this rumour will come true..then be sure this will be the industry future and better prepare for this than complain about it

If i have to carry around a battery pack or wireless charger with me just so I can have THIN!, dedicated devices like cameras will start getting my attention again.

here we talk about future right? portless iphone is not a present thing...so Apple knows what they are doing...i bet if this will come true, next macs from late 2025 and next year...will have wi fi 7..and windows laptops already have wifi 7...wifi 6E is already faster...you dont have thunderbolt port on your iphone and you will never have. So that wifi being slower its your particularly issue

If wifi 5/6 is a big PIA backing up 1TB then backup with usb3 speeds is not a big PIA ?!
Its a simple math but people like to complain even the truth is not theirs

What I do have is wired CarPlay, I backup my phone with a wire, I charge with a wire, and it's the same wire I charge my MacBook, my wife's pixel, her Microsoft surface, my kindle...

One and done. I'm not going back to carrying multiple cables, adapters and such again. Sorry, but the iPhone just isn't that special.

one cable to do it all...for the iphone and the others phones you will not need a cable..so be happy on your situation

one cable to do it all...but wifi does all as well without the mess of cables. If iphone doesnt worth it, be prepared this thing to be copy pasted by samsung and the others like they always do

But I still have to carry a MagSafe puck for my phone to charge, a usb cable for my MacBook, and little puck for my watch. You expect the watch and MacBook to have Qi2 support soon?

No.

Edit: I don't what Samsung does. There is more than Apple and Samsung.

Yeah I tend to agree. The iphone is a general use device that has lots of value compared to carrying around other stuff. IF they yank the only port on the phone, that starts to turn the phone back toward a phone. In otherwords it would be a reversion and it would start losing value as a generalized computing device. Apple needs to consider this.
