And again, the focus for everything in Apple is cost. The battery tech they have is so stale and they know it. Time to adapt and scale which will drive costs. But again, profit reigns supreme and they will adopt after android does.
Hm, is that why ZDNet judged the iPhone 16 Pro Max to have the longest battery life of any phone (Tom's Guide ranks it 3rd)? Pretty impressive for "stale" battery tech - especially since iPhones are known to have the smallest capacity batteries as well.

Why would they run into battery issues if they already make an ultra thin battery for the iPad Pro?
The article says that the issue is cost. The iPhone is a different form factor (much smaller), so has different technical requirements and trade-offs than the iPad Pro.

“Air” is just another marketing scheme name now
Probably, but I'm wondering how they will position this model.
Will it replace an SE ?
Will it be positioned between an SE and a regular iPhone ?
Will it replace the regular iPhone ?

All we know is it won't be a Pro model, and it will sport a 120 Hz display, which current iPhone 16s don't even have yet.

"Thinner" is a bizarre goal. Is anyone asking for a thinner phone?
I’m in the market for a more lightweight phone, and with current tech that implies thinner.

And everyone was amazed by the thin M4 iPad Pro.

Did not plan to upgrade from my iPhone 14 Pro Max and my wife's iPhone 13 Pro Max. After the election, the strong chance of high tariffs prodded me to upgrade nearly all of our existing Apple computer gear.

Will probably also order a Mini M4 Pro fully loaded with a Studio Display for summer office since Ultra M4/5 Mac Studio is still vapor ware. My Ultra M1 Mac Studio still works just fine.

My iPhone's screen broke a month ago, it was the perfect opportunity to change to a new iPhone but...all the current models are ugly, it's imposible to choose a well designed product, the colours are horrible, Why this iPhone has more buttons? that's crazy, no IA in the EU until at least april 2025.... I ended up repairing my iPhone screen, just because buying a new one feels like throwing money out of the window.

Apple cares about cost Of products? Aren’t people just buy regardless of cost anyways? Just make iPhone Air $3000 starting price if that’s what comes out and see how people reacts. Plenty wants a lightweight device no matter the cost.

(Like “Pro”)

Love seeing that 5S though!
From the GOAT 🐐 era

Unmatched in hand feel

(Also, make another Mini please)
Hard disagree on that, the rounded edges just feel better. The 5 needs a case, with the 6 a case is optional.

"the iPhone 17 Air battery will purportedly be around 6mm thick, suggesting that the device itself will be thicker than this."

Really, a device containing a 6mm battery could be thicker than that? Tell me more.

I can not lie, I want an iPhone Phat built like a brick nice and thick with battery for days
SAME!!!!

I don't want thin. I want thicker. Double the current thickness would be about right, with a quick-swappable battery please!

I'll never go back to dumbphones, but one thing I absolutely LOVED about them was the ability to have two batteries, with one kept in an external charger so I could just swap them and have a fully charged phone in seconds.
