Just tried to install the Torras OrigArmor on my 17 Pro Max and I botched it pretty badly haha.

Even though I did it in a steamed up bathroom with zero dust in the air and a fresh iPhone out of the box, I somehow still managed to get a giant piece of dust stuck underneath the bottom corner.

I think part of the problem is the microfiber cloth that comes with the installation kit has tons of lint on it. Having that near the protector during installation was a mistake and I think static just zapped it to the screen. I tried lifting the corner to use a dust sticker to snag it, but I ended up lifting the whole protector off and needed to attempt realigning it without the install tray.

It's not perfect unfortunately with my bungled installation, but it does seem like the black borders aren't covering much of the screen, if at all. The 3D edge feels great and there is a notch at the top for the speaker. I'm using it with a temporary Torras case while I wait for my Caudabe and the edges don't lift up. Not sure if they'll be affected by the Sheath's stiffer material.

It's a bummer they only included one protector in the package and I might try for another one in the future to get a better dustless fit.

You need to go to town with the dust stickers, the cloth is just for drying the alcohol wipe. The sticker is what gets rid of any dust.

What i do is steam the bathroom like you, but I also have a can of compress air and I blow the screen to oblivion, then use the dust stickers that I have to remove the dust, and when I feel like I’ve removed all dust, I use more dust stickers again. I’m OCD about dust on my screen so I avg 15-30 mins in the bathroom every time I apply a screen protector. 😂

Oh I went to town as well and my screen was totally dust-free when I started.

I was just saying the cloth is really full of lint and after it must have been sitting close enough to the installation tray that it staticked over some dust as I was doing the installation. Moral of the story is get that cloth away from your install area when you're ready to roll. Better yet, use an actual lint-free microfiber instead of their cloth.

Thanks for the heads up. Planning to install the TORRAS on my 17 Pro Max as well and will definitely get that lint cloth as far away from my phone as possible. 😂

My new Benks screen protector might be the nicest I’ve ever used! The edges are so seamless that it doesn’t feel like you have a protector fitted!

I got the Torres OrigArmor and using the tray to install it went well, everything looked good, no dust. But it installed it just slightly too high. Does anyone else have the same exact screen protector with that issue? I hate to order another one if it’s a manufacturing issue maybe because they didn’t have the actual phone yet

Unfortunately that does just look like the protector wasn’t lined up right with the tray :(

Mine was lined up correctly and besides the dust issue I had, it seems to fit well.

You can carefully lift your protector up from the top end and try to move it directly down (it seems well centered). Then drag your finger down the middle and the glass should install from the center and mostly avoid large bubbles.

Dude that isn’t slightly, that is way high. Hopefully mine goes smooth or back to Amazon

I agree, it wasn’t lined up. But it was in the tabs like it said. I ordered another one that will be here tomorrow morning, I thought about trying to lift it up and slide it down, but that never works. Thanks.

That’s what I’m doing as well, I tried to do a return and your replacement. They want to wait several days for the new one. So I just ordered a new one that will be here early tomorrow morning.

It was likely me screwing it up, it has some tabs that it goes into so I’m not sure how I would’ve but probably did.

But this is the reason I typically get the Zagg from Best Buy and have them install it, it’s just too convenient to be able to go there grab a new one off the shelf and have them put it on every time. If my new one tomorrow doesn’t go well that’s what I’m going to do again. Especially because it sounds like I can just get a free replacement for my 16 Pro Max and have it installed on the 17 Pro Max.

Yeah it seems like a manufacturing error on their part. You can definitely get your money back, especially if you ordered from Amazon.

FWIW, here’s what my Torras OrigArmor looks like after installation:

Yours came out great. Maybe you’re just in an extra bright area, but does it seem like the glare is pretty good? I know there was some back-and-forth about whether screen protectors would affect the anti-glare screen or not

Yeah I was standing directly next to a super bright window. I’m not sure how good the protector’s anti-glare is compared to the native screen’s anti-glare but it’s definitely cutting back and diffusing glare better than the old Torras on my 15 Pro Max. On my old phone, my screen looks like a mirror in that area against a window.

I have the regular Torras on my 17 Pro Max and it is fine. OrigArmor are not available here from Amazon so I had to order it from Torras itself which shipps from China.

On Monday my Hoda Sapphire should arrive. I loved it until last years 16 Version which was not good and they never fixed it. Hopefully this year they fix it so I would only need my OrigArmor as Backup. I don`t know why but I love the cold Sapphire touch feeling.

I got two answers when I asked before so I’m asking now that it’s possible to go in and buy the Belkin protector that the Apple Store applies for you—is it $40 or $50? US :)
