The collective goal of all mobile tech seems to be "bigger mobile screens."

As physical sizes grow by whatever means, size & weight grows with them.

Thousands & thousands of thread posts rip Vpro but it already delivers ANY size screen in any on-the-go settings. But size & weight remains the same. Next time some "pile on" the Vpro bash-fest, you might want to give some thought to how else to accomplish the objective of bigger mobile screens WITHOUT scaling size & weight with such growth.

If this rumor is true, I struggle to imagine pricing being much below Vpro for this fixed-sized 19". At what price point does a 16" MBpro start now? Rhetorical: $2499. Add 3 more inches of screen, fold mechanisms, the "oooooh, ahhhhh" factor of something brand new from Apple, etc. $2999? or also $3499? $3999?

Yeah but it would, theoretically, be a computer rather than just a cumbersome tablet strapped to your face

I've just downsized from a 16" MBP to the new 14" and not missing the extra inches at all. I used the 17" for work years ago when that was a thing, and it was a monster - can't imagine hefting a bigger one around.

I’m not sure what they mean by inward vs outward facing display. But I definitely want a foldable iPhone.
Inward would be hidden when folded and outward means the screen is on the outside of the phone when folded? If I were forced to own one, I'd want the one I could use with one hand without having to open anything.

Apple Fold
- starts at $2199
- sadly it can not handle new new festures of the next iOS and you‘ll have to get a new Fold 2 …

Apple is loosing ground.

I was in an Apple store recently, looking for a titan watch - something that looks a liitle bit more „grown up“. But I cannot spot a difference between all the models and I cannot spot a difference between my AW6 and the AW10. The ultra is too fat and heavy. The front of the ultra added to the normal AW case would have been a nice upgrade, but this doesn‘t exist.

Hey Tim, what about a Ring. And yes I know „Apple will never build a ring, bla bla yaddah yaddah“.

Well, it’s about time! Lol. All these brilliant people at Apple and this is the only functional design they can come up with? Jeez. Come on, Apple. Their whole marketing with the iPhone 16 series is AI and all its features aren’t available yet. Lol.

Apple is now a money-first company, no longer a creative company. They let Jony Ive go and have been using his designs ever since.

I don't know why Apple is so obsessed with thinness. Phones are thin enough right now -- make the battery last longer.
I have the opposite view. The battery on my 16 Pro is a tank and can easily outlast the day even with an 80% charge limit set. any better battery than this really has no practical advantage unless you’re philosophically opposed to plugging in your phone at night for some reason.

On the other hand, the worst thing about the 16 pro is its bulk, meaning both weight and overall size.

Recent rumors said it will be flip-style, not book-style.
There have been more book-style rumors versus flip. I can assure you there will at least be a book-style model. If Apple wants to also make a flip model that can happen too.

I find it amusing that half the people pontificating about iPhone woes were complaining that the iPhone was too thin and should be bigger, heavier, and have longer battery life, and when they eventually got that the other half of people started complaining that the iPhone is too thick and heavy, and should be thinner and lighter.

There’s a chronic problem among geeks that assumes what is right for you is what is right for everyone.

Here in the real world—just like with the MacBook Air vs Pro—some people are willing to trade thinness and weight for longer battery life and more features, while others just want a thin lightweight phone and are willing to sacrifice for it. The market for the previous iPhones Mini wasn’t huge, but probably 25% of the iPhone users I work with bought the mini and were disappointed when it was no longer available. One is still using his.

The hypothetical future iPhone Air is for those people. If you don’t want one, Apple will apparently still make the chunky Pro, so buy that instead! It’s for you, just like the MacBook Pro 16” is for me, while the MacBook Air is for people who prioritize weight over power.

The only people who will never be happy with any product in the lineup are those living in a fantasy world where technological (and physical) constraints don’t exist, so demand something without compromise—a MacBook Air with a Max CPU and long battery life, or an iPhone Air with the same battery life and cameras as a much thicker phone.

Zero interest in folding MacBook or iPhone screens. Zero. But I really want to see that iPhone 17 Air. And the 2025 iPhone SE4!

My 14 Pro has enough battery life for my liking and it’s a 3200 mah battery. Unless I’m gaming I’m never in a position that I’m wishing for more battery life and I have 4+ hours of screen on time a day. I would love a substantially lighter device however even if the screen footprint is slightly bigger and a thinner device with less equipment would definitely be lighter.

Maybe you mean the iPad foldable. Regarding the iPhone, the most recent rumor was that Apple decided to move forward with the flip (clamshell) design, after having evaluated two different designs, both of which were clamshell designs.
