Let’s hope they fixed this since last year’s version 🙄

The fact that the discoloration is all the way around the top, not just in the grip area, leads me to believe it’s caused by dye transfer from clothing or a bag. This is common with light colored cases made from TPU. For example, the white Moft I recently purchased started showing discoloration almost immediately from being in a clean sling bag and pants pocket.

Did the discoloration clean up easy or did you return it?

TinneeOwl v2 (iPhone Air) — Quick Thoughts

Good news; they fixed the fit, at least on the Air. It’s very good now, similar to the 16PM version. The material is softer than the Sheath, so the fit is a bit less tight and more Apple Silicone-like, which is not a bad thing for those of us who change cases frequently. I doubt it’s as protective as the PR or Mous, but it seems likely to be on par with the Sheath, and perhaps better than the Apple. At 48 grams it’s pretty heavy, but not overly so compared to other full coverage cases (the Gen 7 is 50 grams).

The form factor and fit remind me of the Apple Silicone, but with a more pronounced texture and zero fingerprints. Rounded edges, no sharp seams, and just enough texture without feeling like you’re holding a brick—really nice. Imagine the Sheath and Apple Sili had a baby.

The new metal buttons and camera control are excellent, on par with Caudabe, Phone Rebel, Beats, etc. As @KentuckyHouse pointed out, the camera control is inset a bit, which is good or bad depending upon your preference (being a lefty, I prefer a small amount of inset to help prevent ghost activations).

Here are a few pics. I find it to be an attractive case, very stealthy and understated. I’m anxious to compare it directly with the Sheath to see if it actually deserves the “Sheath Killer” moniker that gets thrown around. My Sheath is scheduled to arrive later this week, so we’ll see.

My black for the 17 will be here tomorrow. Also a lefty so excited to see if this is as good as I’m hoping

Additional thoughts on this new Tineeowl:
  • Camera control button is hard to press unless you kind of point your thumb into it, more like a precise press instead of a broader press like with the TW
  • Buttons are good but they do rattle
  • Face of case moves a bit when pressing above the camera control area
  • I don't like swiping from the edges because the case is raised on the face (I have a Torras Origarmor so my screen is raised up)
  • Kinda thick (took a picture comparing the Tineeowl v2, TW, Moft, and Ghost)
  • Grip isn't very good (Sheath def felt better)

Ooooh yeah. It is visibly quite a bit thicker than the TW.

That’s me out
