Will be interesting to see what this does to sales. Due to local taxes in Europe (VAT), Pro prices are already pretty high 👀. It's also much less common to get a subsidized phone from your carrier as a perk with your contract for cellular service.

Apple need to tread very carefully. If these prices hikes are global, there will inevitably be a feeling outside the US that we're subsiding US customers. The rest of the world are acutely aware US consumers are being tariffed (even if Trump thinks China pays for those tariffs).

From what I've read it won't be a feeling, it's fact, it's already been suggested that companies like Apple - with a global footprint but where the USA is their home market and most important current market - will increase prices globally to insulate American customers.

It also allows them to spread it around. 15% of $1000 is $150. Around one third of iPhones sold are in America. If they raise prices everywhere by $50, and they maintain the same sales, that covers the tariffs fully. And it’s much easier for consumers to stomach a $50 increase over a $150 one.

So why should I subsidize Trump's voters by paying more?

Makes sense.

Many people insist on failing to realize as time goes on all companies, including Apple, have to deal with rising component costs (and now trump tariffs). And...rising employee benefits costs due to inflation, as well as employees needing to get yearly raises.

This applies to all successful large tech companies, not just Apple. Sadly... many will insist on not believing that and immediately jump to it's Apple being evil.

Can’t blame them, it’s a business, if people voted with their pocket prices would decrease.
Demand - Offer…
It’s wild actual adults believe this childlike nonsense. Gee, if no one bought food, they wouldn’t have jacked up the price so much over the past few years 🤪🤪🤪 I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner!

Yes. Let’s all “vote with our wallets”! What a revelation. I know. Word hard and you’ll get ahead! Or wait. Price vs demand! Yes, it must be that.

I swear people just operate on ragebait these days.

Apple is expected to implement a $50 price increase across its iPhone 17 lineup when the new models launch in September as a way to offset rising component costs and China tariffs, according to a new investor note by Jefferies analyst Edison Lee.

The price hike is expected across all iPhone 17 models, including the regular iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air (replacing the Plus model), iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Current iPhone models range from the base iPhone 16 starting at $799 to the iPhone 16 Pro Max at $1,199.

The analyst's prediction came as it gave AAPL stock a Hold rating, citing strong iPhone sales in the second quarter of 2025. U.S. telecommunications companies reported a 22% year-on-year equipment growth, their highest in six quarters, according to the analyst's note.

The Wall Street Journal reported in May that Apple was considering raising prices for its upcoming iPhone 17 models. The company reportedly aims to pair the potential price hikes with new features and design changes to justify the increased cost to consumers, rather than attributing them to U.S. tariffs on goods from China.

Tariffs are for fools.

Presumably that’s for the big ass periscope lens which is going under that camera bump

You conveniently forgot to mention corporate greed which is alive and well in the US. Sometimes voting with your wallet makes sense -- McDonalds lowered their inflated prices because enough people stopped going. It does work, and unlike food, no one NEEDS a new iPhone.

Silly? Why are you defending a company 😭 they don't care about you.

It's not about caring. It's about Apple keeping its 1+ Billion active and repeat customers happy by developing products they love to purchase, at prices that are reasonable and competitive. If Apple product prices are unreasonable, people will exercise their agency and go with an Apple competitor for their tech product needs. Simple.

I didn't say any of this though
