Like the new Pixel-like camera arrangement. Will make the weight better load-balanced. Also makes a nice tilt angle when you set the phone on the desk, which should mean Face ID still works fine.

I'm not a fan of the aluminum/glass two-tone look, but I'm going to put it in a case on day one and never see that again.

A lot of these changes- if they come true, likely will be change for change sake. Not necessarily because it’s better.
If they want to do something significant — get rid of the gawdawful OLED displays.
Apple has been doing that for years. Look at System Preferences, for many years they'd move stuff around for the fun of it, then completely replaced it with the MUCH worse System Settings, all for the sake of change, it just kept getting worse.

The camera rumour was already leaked five years ago.

If you’re not interested in AI an iPhone 13 will still suffice.
yep. Everyone has their point where it's good enough which is why sales slip. Personally I like having the satellite support found on the 14 and later. I think I'll like eventually having a 48mp telephoto so I can crop and still have a decent photo. I went from a 13 pro to a 16 pro and will likely wait for a 19 for my next phone if history is any guide. That works fine for me.

If the aluminum on the Pros ends up being true I wonder how Apple will spin it as an "upgrade" using Aluminum on the Pros after 6 years of stainless steel and 2 years of Titanium.
Easy. First carbon neutral iPhone because we bought carbon offset. You’ll be paying the same price if not more and it’s cheaper for us to produce so we make more money. You can’t complain because “it’s good for the environment” to buy a new phone

that lens arrangement looks ... ugly like ugly can be
More so than the current ones with three lenses in a square? At least this new arrangement will be more stable on a table. I always find it interesting how many focus on how the phone looks. I respect that but it's not me so it always seems interesting. I think this new lens arrangement could be to facilitate "spatial" photos/videos.

September 2025 marks (about) five years since I got a new iPhone which means it's finally time to upgrade.

Finally..! 🥳

A19 chip should give me a little more than a 2x performance boost across the board.

Well, considering how little iOS optimization is done for older iPhones, it's probably going to feel like an even bigger jump than 2x.

Either way, iPhones 17 are going to be awesome (for me)!

What exactly are they supposed to do?
At a minimum they could copy what other phone makers do: foldable phones, more zoom, pens... They are loosing market share in China because other phone makers are innovating. Everything they have come up with in recent years have been copies of other phone makers: periscope lens, high pixel density cameras. Real innovation would be to think outside the box, which Apple did with the original iPhone, come up with things we didn't imagine.

Lighter weight would be an upgrade for some of us. As for Apple’s possible spin, they could say it’s some new “advanced” aluminum hybrid frame?
