The 48MP telephoto lens would be able to mimic a 10x lens. A stylus isn’t necessary and goes against the entire original purpose of the iPhone and they’ve had 2000 nit screens for three years now which looks awesome outdoors.
No, resolution is not a substitute for focal length. You have no idea how opstics and focal length work. Lenses don't have megapixels. 2000 nits does not look awesome outdoors when there is tons of glare.

My brother's ancient Galaxy with 10x telephoto gets way more detail of a distant subject than my latest iPhone gets from cropping. There is also a different geometry to the perspective of an image from a different focal length.

A stylus would not defeat any purpose of the iPhone anymore than Pencil defeated the purpose of the iPad. It's just a tool that some people find useful for certain tasks.

Quit making excuses for the lack of innovation we've been getting from Apple. They need to be able to take criticism and not act like everything they do is automatically better and perfect.

Just another incarnation of nothing, with a price jacked up another 50 or 100 bucks or more. More RAM, new cameras... big deal.
Seriously, when are people going to come to their senses and realize that a $1200 (or $1400!) "phone" is outrageous?

That 12GB of RAM will probably be necessary for Apple Intelligence 2.0 or AI Pro which we might get as soon as next year. Another reason to skip the 16 Pro/16 Pro Max.

I wonder if they will make spatial videos/photos square if they have the lenses like that. It would be a bummer to lose resolution, but if it used the outer lenses, the depth effect could be increased.

What exactly are they supposed to do?
Exactly. It’s a mature product. They have reached their limit. They do everything they set out to do, now it’s just incremental upgrades. Same as televisions, monitors, tablets, laptops. Some people make dumb comments. They want a phone to spawn wheels and transform into an automobile. 🤣
At a minimum they could copy what other phone makers do: foldable phones, more zoom, pens... They are loosing market share in China because other phone makers are innovating. Everything they have come up with in recent years have been copies of other phone makers: periscope lens, high pixel density cameras. Real innovation would be to think outside the box, which Apple did with the original iPhone, come up with things we didn't imagine.
Foldable phones are garbage and Apple has it in the lab for when the tech is ready, which could be years away. Either way, that’s not a revolutionary feature.

Pens? They already have an Apple pen. Do you mean a stylus? Horrible. This is not 1998.

It’s a PHONE that seconds as a computer. The pictures it takes look incredible, the screens are amazing and it all fits in your hand. There’s not much else you can do to a mature product segment. Do you want it to fly? 🤣

So, basically no innovation. A small iteration as Apple has done for years. Odd approach for their most important product.
Like it or not, smart phones are (and have been for a while) a mature product line. Small iterations is all we are going to get from the flagship product lines from major manufacturers. If that's not what you like, then you can pay to be a hardware beta tester and spend a couple thousands dollars on an experimental phone from another manufacturer.

Personally, I'll take years of hardware reliability over a gimmicky fragile folding phone any day.

I think the next more revolutionary step will be something related to a phone paired with smart glasses when done right so that it's great AR while not standing out as much more than a pair of sunglasses. Meanwhile what keeps me with Apple products is the ecosystem. I really like my mac compared to a Windows PC and so I really like how the phone fits well with the mac. I'll see some cool features on an Android phone now and then and maybe hope a bit Apple does something like that but those features are never enough to offset the clean ecosystem Apple has. Nothing is perfect.

Don't spatial photos/videos require the lenses to be separated horizontally (like your eyes) when taking photos and videos? If so, that camera bump setup in the mock-up won't work because the lenses will be separated vertically when taking photos (you don't take vertical videos for view on something like a Vision Pro).

Either that or they've already given up on the idea of spatial photos/videos (which doesn't seem like it would make sense)?

How about reissuing the original iPhone SE — same pocketable form factor with newer chip, upgraded cameras, smaller bezels, and slightly larger battery?

Or, finally, putting out a new and improved MacBook — with a 12-13” screen, Apple Silicon, MagSafe, USB-C port on both sides, that weighs only 2 pounds?

Innovation in the sense of combining some of the best of today's technology with a venerable form factor and good pricing.

Apple could even call them the Classic Mac and the Classic iPhone!

Doing that would generate buzz and excitement…

lol are you for real?
They copy it -sure, but barely anything works properly in Android counterparts, comparing to Apple. Especially the Chinese phones. They don't do foldable (yet) because the whole concept is a one huge compromise for now

How so? Works great for millions of people using them daily. I love mine.
