Everyone is downvoting you but I agree. I don’t want the crappy cameras rumored for the Air, but I do want a reasonably sized Pro. These things are getting awkward for normal pants pockets…The thicker battery is confusing to me. Battery life is already very good and usually gets better with processor upgrades. Why add more battery?
Thanks! I was actually asking a question which is my I ended with a question mark. I admitted this was confusing to me. The downvotes tell me nothing. I was hoping to hear what other people thought.Everyone is downvoting you but I agree. I don’t want the crappy cameras rumored for the Air, but I do want a reasonably sized Pro. Apple proved that with iOS 7.Guess I will eat my words regarding the design.
It might be not the most logical placement for a flash, but if Liquid Glass has shown us anything, it is that sometimes things neither are useful nor pretty to be good enough for Apple.
“nm” is just a marketing term. It does not reflect the size of the transistor gate length, distance between fins or any single measurable dimension.iPhone 18 in 2026 will be the one to keep an eye on.
1) 2nm chip, 33% die shrink from 3nm. Expect major improvement in battery life and thermals. Come on TSMC, get those yields up.
2) Apple C2 modem. C1 was the first gen test run in iPhone 16e. Expect C2 to be fully competitive with offerings from Qualcomm and the others. All bands supported.
3) Something better than lithium-based battery. Good enough to erase all criticisms of the Air phone compromising on battery life.

Also, it is my opinion that Apple should maintain a 'hero' color on all of its products for several years. Maybe for this year it's Sky (Tiffany?) Blue, put it on the MacBooks, Apple Watches, iPhones, iPads etc. Do it for 3 to 5 years.
I have plenty of good looking friends who are kind, loyal, and supportive.I prefer for something to look ugly to others that will promise me luxury than something that looks pretty and gives me headaches like the rumored 17 Air with a nano sized battery and less camera and other functions eliminated.
Same goes when humans are involved with relationships. The so called ugly looking person turns out to be the most kind and loyal/supportive you ever met in your experience.
"But since they aren't...". Exactly, they aren't. It is time to let it go, for the love of all that is good and decent. If Apple produced an iPhone 17 mini, I would pay $1500 for it. But since they aren't, I'm getting another iPhone 13 mini for $400 (refurbished, in mint condition, with a new battery).
So am I correct in thinking that existing MagSafe accessories will be incompatible? That would tick me right off.
Agreed, I had the same question because IMO the current 16PM battery is fine. The only reasons I can think of for adding battery capacity are 1) because they coincidentally can, because tech improved and/or they had extra available space and 2) because perhaps AI, the OS and other demands require more battery capacity. The thicker battery is confusing to me. Battery life is already very good and usually gets better with processor upgrades. Why add more battery?
Edit: Downvote all you like. Did you see where I said it was confusing to me? Did you see that I’m asking a question? Your downvote doesn’t answer my question. Maybe explain why you disagree.
The article suggested that existing devices would work. My guess is we need to wait and see.So am I correct in thinking that existing MagSafe accessories will be incompatible? That would tick me right off.
Usually I might agree, but considering I don’t have many apps installed and don’t use things like FB, Instagram, TikTok and what not and still see my battery dead after a day of not using the phone, I don’t.We got multiple 15 Pros in the family and I noticed this trend that everybody who is on tiktok a lot and has all these apps installed suffers from mediocre battery life. In one case I helped reset that thing and we fixed the battery drain but of course a couple weeks later that family member had over 50 third party apps installed yet again and went through their days with low battery again.
So to me it's clearly not a specific unit issue and more of a specific usecase/user issue. I strongly believe that if you take a dozen random 15 Pros straight out the factory and set them all up the same with the same set of apps they'll perform very similarly if not identical with battery life. These are mass produced with nearly the same components (sometimes a display panel is sourced from 2 different manufacturers) and all come with a similar battery capacity out of the factory.
How fast the battery ages and health declines is definitely a gamble though but for that you got the paid battery replacement service to restore battery life and hopefully get a longer lasting battery the second time around.
Yet apps become more demanding and more feature-rich, displays see increases in size and brightness and HDR functionality, so these "major" improvements even out.
Apple isn't known to implement something like that immediately. Once this tech is ready you can probably find it in some chinese brand phones first, then in all Android phones over the years and some more years later when that tech is old news Apple will advertise it as this great new thing in one of their keynotes. I mean look at the 60W Xiaomi charge speeds and how Apple only just gave us 25W fast charging starting with the 16 series.
Yeah, using anything AI on my 15 Pro the thing gets warm and burns through battery very fast.Agreed, I had the same question because IMO the current 16PM battery is fine. My time with pre-flat iOS was somewhat limited. I had an iPod touch first and forth gen, running iOS 3 and 6 respectively, for a couple of years. I didn’t have any experience with anything else, until someone in my family got the iPhone 5s with iOS 8. I got handed the iPhone 4 with iOS 7, and it actually made many things better. At least the control center did. Compared to iOS 3, 7 was a godsend, to me.Apple proved that with iOS 7.
We went from an absolutely beautiful and useful UI to one that was fugly and less useful.
And then Google copied the fugly, they already had less useful.
Those are good thoughts. I wondered if they would actually lose battery space with the addition of the new cooling system. I haven’t seen any discussions about how much space that might take.Agreed, I had the same question because IMO the current 16PM battery is fine. It's a way of branding. They do it so people notice them everywhere and hopefully purchase one themselves...make it large enough to contain the lenses too for a smoother back.
Haha. They should just make a case that looks like a giant, old iPhone XFrankly, it's quite ugly.
I hope someone will offer a silicone case that will cover more evenly the phone:

Yeah, but imagine you would have skeuomorphic design on Apple watch..Apple proved that with iOS 7.

Cheaper and lighter. Titanium is much stronger than aluminum but still slightly heavier. It's slightly stronger than SS but much lighter. Why switch back to aluminium? And isn’t this new camera design make the phone too much top heavy in your hand?
