Off topic, but uh, that render of the new iPhone just looks wrong. Weird dimensions, the logo seems off, and that camera bump: why?? Ah! On topic again: maybe that's needed for the battery 🤪

Turn all the crap off.
Good point, I’ll try that for apps where it’s unimportant. I had already set it to Wi-Fi-only, but I’m in Wi-Fi range most of the time, so…

it's always funny reading these comments.. you know the usual "my 16 pro max only gets 2 hours before its dead!.. unless I don't use it" kek lol 😂
I have empathy for those who have no options besides using their iPhone heavily, unless they're posting heavily on MR from their iPhone, hehe.

Too bad that increasing the battery capacity usually increases the weight! 😢 I already feel like my iPhone 15 Pro Max is a little too heavy.

Just when I’m casually browsing it rests in my hand… kind of on my pinky finger.. and it’s noticeable after 5 to 10 minutes!

I doubt most people want a phone that thick all the time.
I don't know, I think it's probably worth trying for Apple. Based on purchasing habits people seem to highly value battery life and not care about size or bulk. Thin devices are widely derided and seen as hallmarks of misguided design.

When I see batteries continue to get bigger and bigger, and people keep calling for them to get even bigger as they claim their phone can't make it through a typical day, it really makes you realize just how many people have a smartphone addiction and they may or may not even realize it. Its very sad.

That was the lightest generation. The 16PM just went heavier. Yes, they are supposedly ditching titanium for aluminum, but this is definitely going to be over 8 oz.

I was pretty disappointed with the weight of my 16 Pro, and it's what I hated the most about 13 Pro (the shiny metal sides were a close second). Unless the weight goes down, this will be my last Pro.

And that heavy, in particular.
Speak for yourself.

I just grabbed 3 of my iPhones, the 13 Pro Max, the XS Max, and the 8+.

The three together are an acceptable weight, a bit heavier than I'd like, but not awful.

But the 13PM and XS Max together? PERFECT weight, PERFECT thickness. I'd be VERY happy with an iPhone that thick and heavy. Minus the camera wart, obviously, THAT abomination needs to go.

All of them, ridiculous. Phones' battery life should be measured in days, not hours.
The battery life of the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 33 hours, according to Apple. This is up from 29 hours on the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and 28 hours on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 Pro Max had a battery life of just 20 hours. With an extra 300mAh of battery capacity, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could be on course to offer around 35 hours of battery life, or perhaps even more.

The battery life of the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 1.38 days, according to Apple. This is up from 1.21 days on the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and 1.17 days on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 Pro Max had a battery life of just .83 days. With an extra 300mAh of battery capacity, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could be on course to offer around 1.46 days of battery life, or perhaps even more.

Maybe some of them actually do work on their phone? Zoom meetings, navigation, hotspotting their laptop, etc. None of that is an addiction. It's getting the job done.

Seeing as how people use their phones for different things and for different amounts throughout the day, that's somewhat tricky to measure. For instance, I can get up to 2 days out of my phone before it's fully depleted. Other people with the same phone say that they need to top up at lunch time to get through the day.

Oh, and they're all in cases. Fairly thin cases on the 13PM and XS Max, Otterbox on the 8+.

The thickness of all 3 together with the cases would be fine, just a bit heavier than I'd like. Still lighter than the first phone I carried.

This stuff really never makes a difference for me. Every iPhone I’ve ever owned is at 20% by like 3:00-4:00. Every. Single. One.
Dang, you must be a really heavy user. My 14 Pro Max is almost 3 years old now, and it's extremely rare for me to hit 30% before bed time. I end most days with over 50%, and I spend more hours doom scrolling on social media than is probably healthy. 😅

If this report is accurate, I expect to be able to get 2-3 days out of a new fully charged 17 Pro Max, which is great!
