If true, it will be really nice. With bigger battery also hoping to see faster wired and MagSafe charging. Expecting the 17 Pro Max to be able to easily last a day after it is fully charged.

Can't 16 Pro Max users make it through a day already?

Try and use FaceTime video for two hours, and tell me how much battery it drained ;)
I suspect a key difference between those that get lots of phone life or not relates to how much time is spent using a computer instead of a phone. Everyone is unique, but for me, if I were on FaceTime for two hours then most of that would be on a computer as I find it more pleasant for such things. My phone gets used more when I'm out and about in which case I'm likely too busy with other things to use too much time. Even if I know I'll be sitting around bored somewhere (waiting for my car to be service for example) I bring my MacBook air with me to occupy myself.

I welcome more battery coming from a 15PM. I’m not always at my desk for work so my battery gets hammered with social apps, video recording with the camera, email, and various work apps. Recording video is probably the biggest battery drain for me during the day.

I loved the size of my Nokia 5125. It was brick-like, but felt better to hold in my hand than my iPhone and had all week battery life. Granted it only made phone calls and texts, but still...
Besides what you mention about using it just to make calls and texts, an iPhone 16PM is twice the size (in terms of area) of a Nokia 5125. So increasing thickness has a worse effect.

Which is not how any of us would ever use a phone. Who presses play and walks away from the device and never touches it again until it is dead?

But the real world testing is still very good.

I think 18.2 onwards took a dip when all the Apple Intelligence stuff started and iOS 26 is getting worse battery life so far, but it's not final. I'd like sites to retest the old phones with the new OS occasionally so we can get some accurate looks into if the new OS is worse for battery life or if it is just our perceptions.

At this point I think I would welcome faster recharging. I have a 15 Pro Max and use about 20-30% of my battery per day (unplugged). Since I work at a desk, my phone stays plugged in 90%+ of its life (80% charge limit set).

I use this device for everything - reading books, communicating when I'm out and about, easier access to my banking, etc. I want a lighter device... not a bigger heavier device with longer battery life.

Even with a 30w charger it takes forever to top this thing off. Granted, have I needed faster charging? No, not really ... my car has charging, my place of work has charging, my desk has charging, my bedside stand has charging. I have multiple batteries I can throw on my phone if I need to run out....

Still I say... give me faster recharging. Based on how I see others use their phones - many people (that I know) walk with cables so they can charge whenever they hit a desk.

there is NO WAY that the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 33 hour battery life, unless you're not actually using it.

My kingdom for a phone that actually lasts all day between charges
Mine lasts a day and a half with 6 to 7 hours of screen time and that’s with a 90% max charge (and low power mode kicking on when the battery hits 19%). I’ve never had any issues with the 16 Pro Max battery life. However, it was terrible on the 15 Pro Max.

Actually given the size of that camera bump already they might as well just make the whole phone camera bump-depth. That way they could have a really good battery capacity.
Gawd no. The 16PM battery works fine for me, as did the 15P and the 14P. I prefer no additional battery weight or volume please. Of course YMMV and if so you can buy add-on battery capacity from about a zillion vendors.

Note that I specifically referenced no additional battery weight or volume. Adding battery capacity or adding battery operating time is all good as long as it does not add battery weight or volume.

My Pixel 9 Pro XL battery is 5060 mAh, plus it has bypass charging. iPhone yet again behind the times.
Yeah the iPhone doesn't have true hardware bypass right - would love that!

However, I noticed if I leave my phone plugged in, I can use it heavily and the battery reporting shows little to no usage - so I think since the 15 pro / pro max - the BMS does this to an extent.

I know this cuz I work at a desk so there are days my phone stays plugged in all day and it shows no to almost no battery usage despite screen time.

(Phone playing music and currently on a wireless charging stand).

All of them, ridiculous. Phones' battery life should be measured in days, not hours.
I strongly disagree.

• Folks who need more than a day of capacity need to rethink their operational protocol. It should be easy to charge a phone at least once a day unless one is backpacking or something similar. Especially with MagSafe, just have chargers in multiple locations (bedroom, car, desk, etc.) and drop the phone on it when at that venue.

• Modern iPhones are pretty much supercomputers that we carry in our pockets. Folks who need more than a day of capacity for their supercomputers can easily buy add-on battery banks from third-party vendors.

• Those of us who manage our iPhones just fine with existing battery capacity prefer not to add extra unnecessary weight or volume or cost to achieve monster battery capacity that we do not need.

For that reason alone the blog has no credibility. Apple using their own modem is a reminder why I can't let myself be tempted into getting an iPhone 17. I'm using the XS Max.
You can get the 17 Series but just don’t get the 17 Air because Kuo said Apple’s new C1 modem will definitely be in that one but not the others until next year’s 18 series iPhone.

it's always funny reading these comments.. you know the usual "my 16 pro max only gets 2 hours before its dead!.. unless I don't use it" kek lol 😂
Yep, those comments are hilariously unbelievable. Someone is always trying to yank someone else’s chain aren’t they?

This is the way 👆

I thought this was sort of what they were going for with the "naked robotic core*" design + MagSafe accessories (like battery packs).

I have two of the Apple MagSafe battery packs in my fleet for occasional usage with my 13 Mini. It only is needed a couple times per year (attending sporting events for the day, where the battery gets cooked).

* a John Siracusa saying
Going to have to disagree on that. MagSafe is fine for occasional use, but if it's going to be on the phone all the time it's an incredibly inefficient way to charge. And I'd prefer something more secure than magnets. It really needs to have a physical lock mechanism and pogo pins.
