wow what an innovation. 5000mah in a 6.9” phone (that’s also going to be thicker than 16PM), yet there are already companies that have 6.3” phones with 6500mah battery.

Lmao love these leaks that say “battery will be around 5000mAh” when the 16 Pro Max already has around 5000mAh 🤣

more battery is always good. even with iOS 26 draining my 15 Pro Max battery real hard doing literally nothing it still gets me through the day. I'm at 96% health (lost 2% health since using iOS 26 lmao).

Bigger battery with a bigger price!

We think you’re gonna love it!

The article says we are getting the Qualcomm X80 modem, but we didn’t get the X75 in the 16 pro max. We got the X71 cut down version instead for Apple to save costs or make there C1 custom modem look good.

I think people forget due to the lower efficiency of Android, the big Android phones really need a big battery. The Google Pixel 9 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra both use 5,000 mAh battery packs for this reason.

When I see batteries continue to get bigger and bigger, and people keep calling for them to get even bigger as they claim their phone can't make it through a typical day, it really makes you realize just how many people have a smartphone addiction and they may or may not even realize it. Its very sad.

Agreed .. with the way this is going, I guess I need to start hoping for the Watch to get more and more feature complete and fully standalone.

I will not be carrying around a patio paver sized attention monetization slot machine.

I thought Apple was transitioning to their own modem.
They are and the 17 Air will have there C1 custom modem. The transition will be in phases. The C1 does not have MmWave Ultra High Speed Internet capability but the C2 will have it next year. The 18 Pro’s will have the C2 custom modem that will have MmWave.

I really like my S10 watch. It's intriguing to think about it as an iPhone replacement. Some things I can't figure out (maybe they're not possible?): how do I pick specific Audible books to sync to the watch? Same question for Podcasts episodes and Music albums/playlists. I'd have to play around with using Maps on my watch. I'm using my iPhone less and less these days, when a Mac and watch do a lot of what I need. (Of course I have to have a phone for the watch...)

Very fair points - I don't have good answers for it ...
Perhaps if it could be alternatively connected with a Mac in a future scenario?

For that reason alone the blog has no credibility. Apple using their own modem is a reminder why I can't let myself be tempted into getting an iPhone 17. I'm using the XS Max.

According to screen time, I use my phone on average 4 hours a day. When I still had my 12 Pro Max, I only needed to charge once every other day. When I replaced it with a 14 Pro, I had to again charge my phone every day. On the other hand, I am very happy that I didn't get a 14 Pro Max because of the added weight.

I know that there are others out there that would prefer a heavier phone as long as it gives them more usage. Guess what, you can get what you want already, by adding a battery pack. This would allow most of us to not have to carry an even bigger and heavier device, while allowing those that need it to have what they want as well. Given the experience with the mini, I do not expect Apple to want to make a Pro Max that is only for relatively few people.

Btw, I assume that the market for people that need even longer battery live is limited, given how few options there are for batteries that glue onto the back of the iPhone.

This is the way 👆

I thought this was sort of what they were going for with the "naked robotic core*" design + MagSafe accessories (like battery packs).

I have two of the Apple MagSafe battery packs in my fleet for occasional usage with my 13 Mini. It only is needed a couple times per year (attending sporting events for the day, where the battery gets cooked).

That's a pretty hefty jump. I rarely run low on my battery but who can complain about getting more.

I just launched Audible from my watch and it just allowed me to play what's in my library.

Even my iPad 9th gen supports it, and it's surprisingly smooth.
I doubt it's THAT heavy on GPU. In fact, probably has little effect on it.

Running well on that, yeah?
I have the same iPad and have been wondering about how it would handle it (or not).

Try and use FaceTime video for two hours, and tell me how much battery it drained ;)

Oh my goodness .. two HOURS?
