From the back I prefer the orange over the silver, but from the front, I prefer the silver over the orange.

That orange border will get old fast. At least for me. Especially once the honeymoon period ends.

I honestly think it’s because it gives off a bead blasted look the silver. Makes it look like a pot metal. The random white glass on the back isn’t helping it either.
I haven’t seen any of these phones in person but nothing from the photos I’ve seen give off a “cheap ass” look. I don’t think anyone really believes it even if they say it.

Anyway it seems like there is no perfect material that’s lightweight, durable, good for heat dissipation and not super expensive.

I just picked one up in the store and was surprised about how light it is. It really does not feel bulky and heavy to me at all. Maybe it's because I'm stil using a 14 Pro Max, which seems to feel a lot heavier. In comparison the 17PM feels lightweight, almost like a base iPhone.
To me choosing an Air with all those compromises look completely foolish.

I picked up my phone in stores today and I think I made a mistake going orange. It looks cool at first glance, but I dont think I can live with this color for long. I'll see how it does for a week or so but I might try to exchange it for a blue.

Pick your poison. The more neutral color will check a lot more boxes than not. I think of it as what will I be happy with 6 months from now not just at the unboxing. For me at least, anything other than Silver would get old after awhile staring at daily.

This was the only reason I went with silver. Orange would have looked cool for the first month or so but I wouldn’t be able to live with it for anything longer than that

Good morning from Ohio! My orange Pro Max is currently out for delivery on the UPS truck :)

These photos make me more confident in my choice for sure. I love color and don’t at all see myself getting tired of the orange. Granted… this is my living room, so I’m clearly not afraid of the phone being too bold and orange 😂

What displays do you have on your Pro Max devices? I got an LG for the first time, after years of Samsung. I have to say, it might be the best panel I’ve ever had.

Mate, I just handled the 17 Pro Max. I was using the 16 Pro Max for a full year. To say it feels light is wild. 😆

I got my orange Pro Max today. I love the colour, and it looks better in person than on any of the online images or videos.

I wanted to go for a contrasted mix and match look, so got the dark blue TechWoven case and an orange wallet.

Not too sure about the wallet tbh. I reckon it’s going to show a lot of wear very quickly (my last FineWoven wallet was dark green so wasn’t as susceptible).

I do like the case against the orange camera island though. And the colour scheme I’ve ended up with reminds me a bit of Goku from Dragon Ball Z 😁

Until your photos, I thought the orange was too garish and the silver the best.

However, now, the orange looks great and the silver looks like it's not finished and still waiting to have a coating of colour applied to it.

But maybe the blue is the best!

This is why I have to go and see them all for myself. I'll probably decide they're all too expensive and heavy, and end up with the base model in green or something 😁

Well ....

For reasons (see below) I now want the base phone in purple (or lavender or lilac or whatever it's called). That's probably what I'll be getting, but I reserve the right to change which colour I end up with.

I was weighing up (haha!) the Pro Max versus the base phone. The PM has a larger screen (which was why I was considering it in the first place) but it's not that much bigger and it seems to weigh much more in the hand. I also thought I'd want the telephoto lens, but taking some photos (in store) with the base phone and cropping in manually ... that'll do me.

I'm not a big consumer of video media on my phone nor do I play any games. So I'll be upgrading from my nice white iPhone 11 - which I still think looks cooler than all of today's new releases - to the base iPhone 17. Well, I will once they have any in stock.

Normally I'm in the caseless crowd but there's no way these phones were designed to be used bare. These things were designed to be put in a case immediately. That's the only way I can rationalize them looking the way they do.

What trips me up is that Apple can almost perfectly match the color of a macbook trackpad to the aluminum body. They couldn't do that for the glass around back on the phone?

Very creative interior. I can imagine how cozy your cat feels, with the color of the iPhone matching the wall perfectly. I'm looking forward to seeing a photo of it against the backdrop of the room

I bought the Orange which I should be receiving today, and I'm already kinda getting cold feet. Was finally able to see how the phones look in some of the cases I like in YouTube videos and the orange is not hitting for me the way I hoped. It's a little too copper for me. I'll make a decision once I receive the actual phone but I might go blue instead.

Mine arrived at 11am UK time, I have a iPhone 17 pro max and it’s actually much nicer then I thought it would be! Plus the new techwoven case feels lovely, just hoping it lasts.

Not gonna lie, I feel that the techwoven case is almost mandatory if you want a good looking iPhone Pro. Looks great and hide the aluminum edge that looks less than stellar if we are being honest.

The iPhone Pro / Max is a workhorse so I’m okay with it not being a design tour de force, but that techwoven case truly comes to the rescue.

  • Aluminium unibody is well made but I feel it’s a downgrade from stainless steel and titanium. Looking at the silver and orange, the silver feels noticeable “cheaper”.
I reckon for this year if you want battery life and performance, go for the Pro Max; If you want the most premium and elegant iPhone, go for the Air.
I just got back from the Apple Store, and I completely agree with you here.
I like the Cosmic Orange (my pre-order), but there's no question, the 17 Pro feels thick and utilitarian, no longer premium.Blue and Silver specially look dull, and the two-tone finish really ruins the design.

The Air looks far more stylish and premium.

Now I’m torn: keep my Pro Max pre-order or switch to the Air? it’s only the camera keeping me from choosing the Air.

Yeah don’t stress too much until it’s in your hands. These YouTube creators all apply various colour grading to their videos, so I’m always hesitant to rely on the videos as accurate representations. Even just looking at some of the photos I’ve seen today, you’d think that cosmic orange came in multiple shades.

That’s the launch day hype talking. The PM is anything but lightweight.
