Does anyone know which modem we are getting in the iPhone 17 pro max? I heard Apple’s C1 custom modem will only be going in the 17 Air.

Most likely the Qualcomm X75 or X80, I suppose.
We were supposed to get the X75 in the 16 Pro but Apple decided to put in a slower cut down version X71 instead. They wanted to make there new C1 custom modem look very good compared to Qualcomm.

Just want the modem to catch signals as good as my Samsung S24 Ultra. That is the reason why I ditched my iPhone for a Samsung 24Ultra.
The 17 Pro Max will probably be the last Qualcomm iPhone so grab one. The 18 Pro Max will probably have the C2 custom modem from Apple that has the MmWave.

Hopefully we’ll find out soon what Qualcomm modem is in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. I’m Tempted to get the iPhone Air with the New C1X modem as Apple 🍎 states that it’s 2x faster than the C1 modem.

What is the X80 exactly? Have any previous phones / devices used it?

Hopefully it works well, whatever it is!
The X80 modem has AI in to connect to cellular networks more efficiently by not wasting a lot of battery 🔋 and also efficiently connecting to cellular networks with even 1 cell bar 📶📱

Qualcomm claims with the X80 modem that you can still get great 5G speeds in Low Cell Bar Signal areas 📶

Looking forward to checking this out! I work in somewhat of a rural area, and building penetration is fair. Wonder if the 17 PM and the X80 will improve things.
It should as Qualcomm claims even with a Low Cell signal such as having only 1 cell bar 📶 that you will be able to still have fast 5G speeds.

Can’t wait to test the X80 out!

Yeah why would you say only in the Max? The only information we have is specifically talking about the 17 Pro. Also the Pro and Pro Maxs always get the same modem.
It has not been officially confirmed as Apple does not release modem info unless it’s their own custom modem.

We usually find out when they do a iPhone tear-down a week or two after Launch.
