That might be due to new antenna design on this year’s Pros.
Yes, same cell provider. They’ve given up and gone on WiFi - I’m still on 3-4 bars of 5G whilst calls and data totally working.
Also, have a read of this thread - others reporting the same. The benefit of the X80 is huge over the previous X71 in the 16 Pros.
I just read the linked thread. There’s some confusion as to carrier aggregation and antenna design.
Also some confusion on what phones are getting better reception.
The X80 Qualcomm modem with the iPhone Pro’s new antenna design is a good thing, and might lead to better reception.
I’m glad people are getting good results, but it’s hard to figure out why with the information posted.
Is your phone a 17 Pro or Pro Max?
Maybe run Apple Diagnostics on your partner’s phone to see if there’s an underlying issue?
Wow that’s kinda insane, almost feels like something else may be at play. I would to see a head to head with the pro v base 17 for cellular to see what difference the antenna makes
I think the X80 would definitely bring improvements however the biggest improvement should be the physical antenna design. I also would like to see a regular 17 up against the Pro. Crazy no one has posted it. (I’ve been looking)
