And priced under 10 grand?
All highest tier iPhones have been over $2K for the past decade or so. I understand inflation and the global economy play major factors in pricing. Under $2500 would be nice, under $3k is definitely feasible. I don’t expect to see an iPhone anywhere near $10K

Correct. I should have ended with /s. It may seem there might be a price increase,

The AI gig will require ever more "memory" to operate on any device. We got 8GB this year because of AI and the marketing claim this is the first AI compatible iPhone and everyone should upgrade. But wait..... all the other Apple products were upgraded to 16GB of memory for AI.

Folks, I see the 17 series getting 12GB memory upgrade which will be barely adequate and Apple knows this but the 18 series will have the necessary 16GB. This way they hope to sell an extra generation with inadequate specs so great cash flow.

The reality seems to be that Apple and AI are having severe teething problems. It will take at least two more years for a truly operational Apple AI. The peanut gallery has to hope that the 16GB minimum memory in the other iDevices is "enough" or will we find that 32GB is the new enough and obsoletes millions of Apple's computers.

I would be really upset if I had acquired a new Apple Mac with 8GB just to find. out it was obsolete for AI coming out of the box and Apple new that to be the case but they wanted to deplete their known to be obsolete inventory at list prices.

YMMV
Macs run more demanding apps than your phone which is why they got 16GB to run AI, Mac OS, and Mac apps.

Thicker isn't the end lf the world imo. The problem comes when they fill that added thickness with stuff making it even heavier and it's already too heavy.
If it means removing the ugly camera bump and increasing battery life, I’m all for it.

To save weight, it’s the reason they went to titanium in the first place. Apple knows their phones are becoming hulking monstrosities and if it is thicker it will most likely be heavier too
Exactly, I think weight is the primary issue why they’re ditching titanium. They know people complained about the weight of the stainless steel 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Lighter titanium came in to save the day with the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. However, even with titanium, the 16 Pro is close to 200g. My 14 Pro is 206g and a titanium 17 Pro prototype probably came close or even hit that weight. They needed another weight “savior” and aluminum is it.

Slight increase in thickness to incorporate a bigger battery should not be an issue. Hopefully the weight does not increase much. Expecting to hear more about it soon.

I love that rumors are the phone will be thicker when for a year everybody was talking about the thinnest phone. Just exhausting. It will probably be same as the 16 with one or two new features.

I used my old 4S with iOS 6 for a few days and it's just so refreshing to use a subtle, neat and organized user interface in a comfortable form factor. [...] I don't know, maybe I'm just an old boring dude that just went back to 2011 and preferred it there, but I honestly can't wait for a major iOS redesign and I hope it's going to be more pleasant on the eye and I hope Apple releases another Mini model too.
In the image you posted, the older iPhone looks like a 5 not a 4S.

A lot of people seem to be missing the point that onboard AI requires a lot of power.

If you want a great integrated Siri that knows all about you but that you can trust because it’s on-device, then you’re going to need bigger batteries.

Why can’t it be thicker to accommodate the lenses, so I could finally put my phone down flat on the table!
I've been saying this all along. Why not just increase the thickness of the phone to make the camera bump flush again. It allows for a cleaner design and a thicker battery. It won't be THAT much heavier.

I'm not one to be overly obsessed with the looks of a phone but I find that camera bulge to be downright ugly. And I don't want a thicker phone. I was going to wait until the 17 or 18 to upgrade my 13 Pro Max but these previews make me want to get a 16PM while they're still available.

I have had the most recent iPhone ?? Pro Max models for years and have had the same leather belt horizontal holster. The leather has softened and stretched as the iPhone does a size up creep all the time. Not sure what happens with the guessed larger incremental growth this coming fall.
