Face ID requires two steps: looking at the phone and swiping up. This process can be less reliable in certain conditions, such as when the phone is on a table or laying on the bed.

Ultrasonic Touch ID offers a more seamless experience, simply requiring a thumb placement. As an in-display sensor, it eliminates the need for a large notch, providing a cleaner and more immersive screen."

Based on the ease of use and versatility, Ultrasonic Touch ID appears to be the winner for me.

I really hope for TouchID only iPhones under the display. I don't want to put tape directly on the display for not scanning my face all the time. 🙈

I would expect the Dynamic Island to remain as a software feature to facilitate multitasking even if all of the screen cutouts are removed. It would just become more dynamic and flexible only appearing as needed.
I think that’s possible, but I would think a “dynamic notch” would be better since it would have less wasted screen than an island.

Would have liked to see it. Now expecting to see any change before the 20th anniversary.

After another disappointing and mediocre event, the next update is always the real update for those still having faith in Apple.
Lol @ 14 being a “real update”. Literally no update on the vanilla range and a gimmick “island” on the Pro.

My guess is the iphone XX will get this feature, because the iPhone X got FacedID first time

No major design change to the 17 will hurt sales IMO.
I think Apple still hasn't got this picture according to the rumours the only design change coming in 2025 is to the iPhone Air.

Whilst Apple like usual is doing changes incrementally with rumours suggesting Apple bringing the slim design to pro models over the coming years.

The only problem is the iPhone is aging badly (like the iMac has in the past), many polls and surveys like on 9 to 5 have suggested consumers are willing to pay for a design change.

The competition has been marketing various products, and in China Apple is feeling the brunt of not listening to the consumers.

The iPhone 16 lineup is proof that the iPhone design is only becoming lacklustre. In fact I have never heard Dan saying the unboxing is boring until this year.

Why not? The 16 is basically the same as the 14 unless you care about the AI stuff and a camera button. 🤷‍♂️
I said it I wanted bigger phone in size and more storage.
Also yes I do care about the AI stuff.
More importantly I was at the end of my 2 years with it, and I had to return it to my cell provider or buy it for 590$.
Now this 16 Pro Max I got I don't have to do that since I got it outright, so huge possibility I don't switch after 2 years or maybe I will by tradining/selling this one then.
