iPhone 17 Pro With All-New Camera Bar Design Allegedly Revealed

The telephoto camera is the rightmost lens on the rear. If the bump extends to the right, then it’s like to make room for a periscope lens inside the camera body. Perhaps going up to 10x, with the new 48mp sensor.

This could allow for a more smooth and consistent resolution of 48mp at least through 5x, with 10x perhaps being 12mp, or maybe with a periscope they could even do 10x through 48mp.

This explains the giant bump, anyway, as you would need to stack various lenses inside the casing in this way to avoid the battery below, but still allow for a larger sensor that is still decent in lower light to protrude beyond the casing. So if this design is legit, my money is on that being the reason.

That's a pretty decent theory. Though I'm not sure whether the camera bump as portrayed in the Prosser video needs to be that large, spanning so much vertical space, to accommodate a longer telephoto lens stack/periscope simply extending to the right of the telephoto lens, so if the new bump really is like a big plateau rather than just a thinner band extending to the right of the telephoto lens, maybe some other new components would occupy the rest of the space inside that expanded bump.

that makes no sense at all - if it is horizontal it means the lenses have to be spaced differently
 
I think the reason for this extended camera bump design might be that Apple will slim down its devices (according to rumors). This way the Face ID sensors, the front camera and in the foreseeable future the under display camera arrays might have enough room without compromising the iPhone's overall thickness. Doesn't mean I like this design😂 at least for now.

The IPhone 16 camera layout is already nicer than the Pro so this wouldn’t surprise me. The thin Pixel like bar is nicer my advice is buy the IPhone 17 or the IPhone Air. I’m sure the Air has one camera and slimmer and will be this years real Pro model.

We’ve heard comments like this before, iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPhone 6 and iPhone X.

This new design is coming and I’m all for it, it’s disgusting that they’ve used the same design for 6 years. Pure greed, arrogance and laziness, low sales and mocking have forced their hands thankfully.
 
I won’t believe it until the day it appears. Not even if Gurman promises on his life that it’s coming tomorrow.
 
Somehow I have a feeling this is necessary to make room for the under display Face ID feature coming either with this one or in the future.
 
As always, it’ll always look better in person than in renders. But in this case, I think I’ll hold on to my 14 Pro for another year.
