At this point, if there’s gonna be a massive plateau then I’d expect there to be a good reason for it. Perhaps an expanded flash/fill light, with the entire thing able to light up and reflect light out?

I like it. However, I would prefer a single island, without additional lenses sticking out of it. Other than that, it's OK.

Yeah, if they design it like a bar, then there will be cameras on both ends. For depth perception.
Well, no.
Not if they do like the Pixel then it will be for vertical video only.
They'll have to have it like the Galaxy for landscape video. Which is preferred.

Just saying I posted this in December

So, something like this ? Gotcha fam.

Ah yes, that would look lovely. Also physical buttons ftw.

Honestly if they would make an actual high budget modern version of that phone, it would beat any smartphone. Especially with battery life and durability. Just imagine a phone you only have to charge once per 1-3 months.

Here's a revolutionary idea: give up the idea of making everything as slim as possible thus solving many problems caused by this unjustified desire - not having a bump, now worrying about body rigidity or battery capacity. Thicker does mean heavier too - find ways of reduce weight (like reducing gravity in the proximity of the phone/s) while making the phone thick enough to accommodate cameras.

I want the possibility to customize the phone, in both size and cameras.
From the smallest mini with less add-ons, to the largest 'iPad mini size' with super-lenses for photographers.
How hard can it be, this is how we order our Mac's.

I don't think it looks terrible, but don't love the large blank space that just gives off the aesthetic of wasted space.

It doesn't make any sense to make the "camera bar" take up the entire top third of the chassis, but still crowd the cameras in the corner. I would say if Apple does adopt the "Camera bar" design, they'll just copy the Pixel.
Do you know how many times Android phones have copied iPhones?

Does not look good in terms of symmetry. Earlier mockups with all three cameras lined-up horizontally looked better, IMHO.

I'm hoping at least that camera bar's color will match the color of the device. I can't imagine a gold iPhone with a large black bar on the back 🤮

Here's a thought. that "camera bar" only makes sense for the pro if there is also a magsafe grip and/or battery on the other side. That would be an up-sell feature for semi pro users.

When I worked for Apple, I learned that our Boss, Steve Jobs I think his name was, would order designers to come up with iPhone/iPod Touch prototypes with at least a dozen different corner radii, so Apple's products would be distinctive and aesthetically pleasing to the consumers' eyes. If he saw this atrocity, he'd throw it in the trash and fire someone!

It's so funny this happens here every year...

A render/rumor gets posted

Macrumors users:
There is no way Apple would make this.. it looks horrible... this will definitely not be it!

iPhone release date: exactly as the renders/rumors showed

The same Macrumors users who called it horrible: In the "waiting for my phone to be delivered" thread..... I'm so excited can't wait for my phone to arrive... Where is this damn UPS driver!!!

*And for the record I have been guilty of doing this as well... So I am making fun of myself here too
