Is Apple throttling downloads on this? It will start the download nice and fast - then it goes to a crawl about 30% through. Anyone else experiencing this?

Its not me, I just downloaded some other stuff just fine.

Same for me. Gets to 30 MB and stalls- then times out around 50 MB.

think i should try this on my jailbreak iphone.. or think that would be a bad idea?????

That's probably not a good idea but it's your phone so you can do whatever you want. I'm sure if you did it you would be doing a great service to others with jailbroken phones.

Ah, what I just download and unzipped, it has a DMG in it with a password on it, and no I don't mean it wants my admin password. It's a pass-protected DMG. Trying again. Rather than pull it, they may have just locked it up until they officially release it.

Yep, it's all locked up now, witness 1,2_2 instead of 1,2. Bummer.
Read back in the thread.
Nothing to unzip.
Remove .zip extension.
Must be only .ipsw

Did anyone notice that the logo next to the network name changed !!
i'm outside Edge zone and I had a white square before on 1.1.4.
Now it's a white square with a black dote in the middle on 2.0 ?

Is that normale ? I'm worried please can anyone confirme ?

thats fine. 3g ones have that.

right i need some one to break down to me so i dont kill my iphone.

i have a 1.1.4 pwned iphone, unlocked to any carrier,

have people successfully got 2.0 working on unlocked phone.

Anyone at ExxonMobil or General Mills have the bandwidth to host the original? :)

If you read back a few posts, you will find the problem is that you unzipped it. Don't unzip, just delete the '.zip' ending on the file and it will convert to the format it needs to be.

Well one day I will look back and say, $340 or a badge of honor. I think among the six million I'll be okay letting go. Back in the day some people said the same about the Mac Classic.

Most of those saved are in the garage or fish tanks.

Just don't see the point in upgrading to 3G yet? The coverage is so thin right now. The apps will keep me busy for another year. I want to see a performance upgrade in processing, which should happen next year sometime.

You'll spend that 340 bucks 100 time over but I'll still have my original iphone!!! But enjoy your new iPhone!! You'll find out it's not that big of a deal to have 3G, in it's current footprint.

will my contacts/phone numbers be there?

For those of you who installed 2.0, can you tell me if all of my phone numbers and contacts will make it from my 1.1.4 iPhone to my 2.0 iPhone? I do not sync my phone numbers with Outlook or anything else on my windows computer but need for them to automatically transfer to the iPhone when it is restored. Can anyone confirm that I will be safe here? Thanks!

Try downloading it through Firefox; Safari automatically names it .zip and decompresses it; inside of the .ipsw file there appears to be a password-protected dmg, but iTunes will open that for you (I think).

What you are saying is that, provided the carrier is one of the newly supported ones, the iPhone 2.0 doesn't need unlocking anymore??

Thanks for elaborating.

Cheers and enjoy your phone.

I have an official O2 UK iPhone contract but I unlocked my phone anyway. The 2.0 update worked ok but I don't know if it supports other sim cards or networks yet (e.g. T-Mobile UK). I assume it breaks the unlock for now.

Anyone updated on an Unlocked and Jailbroken Phone?

Lots of people saying working on Ziphone Jailbroken, but has anyone done it on an unlocked? IE got it running, NOT using an official carrier????

DaveDaveDave, was yours unlocked or just jailbroken?

Installed and working -- took about 20 minutes to install. I downloaded with Firefox (on a Mac) and it all worked seamlessly with no renaming or file jiggery-pokery required -- just Option-clicked on the update button and opened the ipsw file.

Synced up to my company's Exchange server with no problem. The initial screen just asked for the email address, ID and password -- that wasn't good enough so it then asked for the server name (I think it was assuming "exchange" as the host name, we use "mail"). After I provided that, it hooked right up and synced mail and calendar flawlessly.

This is a real game-changer.

Hmm... restore just about complete... ruh roh... status gone, but spinning wheel of.. Ah.. rebooting the phone... and...... apple logo....

It' up.

This was a successful install of 1.2 on top of a Ziphone-broken 1.1.4 iphone. Hooray!

dave

Is it unlocked still? I use T-Mobile and want to make sure it is not ATT only after the update

Could this update be any damn slower ........ 25 minutes to update and restore......

I have a 1.4 iphone with an o2 sim card in it (not the iphone tariff) that i used ipwn to get working. If i upgrade this phone to 2.0, i assume that it will no longer work? Has anyone tried this?

ok, so I'm updated but none of my downloaded apps work, is this 100% the release for 2.0 or is this computability problem? anyone else tried facebook and bomberman and aqua forest?

Update installed and working great. Already installed Pandora, AOL Radio and eReader. Listening to AOL Radio right now. I really like the mass delete.

I updated my Jailbroken and unlocked phone successfully. Probably not unlocked anymore but I have an o2 contract.....

I've an o2 contract, but not an iPhone one, so mine's jailbroken at the moment.

Question is, if I run the 2.0 update, does that main it's only going to work with the official sim card or, will it be unlocked to run on any o2 simcard.

Methinks I might give it a go.

I'm more interested on how O2 are offering the facility for those who upgrade to have their old iPhone turned into a phone that will work on any o2 sim - so there has to be an official solution out there - maybe iPhone 2.0 software is the solution rather than o2 doing it remotely?

All of mine were there after the restore. Just make sure you have a recent back up.

****edit**** all of my media (songs, movies, etc) needed to be reloaded.

Oh man this is bad. I told myself I wouldn't get the 2.0 on my original until I got the 3G (just so it feels more...errrmm new) but now I'm temped I want Supper Monkey Ball. Must....wait..24 more hours..

Don't Forget to Sync BEFORE you update your phone to the 2.0 software! I lost a few calendar entries and a bunch of emails, but its OK because I have those elsewhere...

It syncs your e-Mails? I never use Mail on the iPhone because when I do it pulls like 300 E-Mails (including Junk Mail) per account and it's taking ages and I don't like that huge number of unread Mails at the Mail icon :)
Also, Mails I've sent don't appear on Mail on my Mac because there's no syncing of POP Mail accounts...
