Nope, no lag there, that's the way I was talking about. 🙂Do you get any lag (meaning, if you swipe the instant the app comes up it won't respond immediately) when you look at contacts through the "Contacts" app? As I just mentioned I get a lag using that app, but not when I go to "Phone" with the contact tab as the default tab.
Is there something WRONG with the 2.1 or it's just my iPhone 3G that is screwed ?? After this update my Safari web loading speed is so slow !!
I tried to do a speed test by going to www.testmyiphone.com
But i can't run it after this update !! WHY ?? 😡
Day and Night i couldn't sleep because i was so excited about this new update. But now i'm getting this kind of slow speed connection. I have regretted updating...
I have some files stored on the iphone via the AirSharing app, and I'm a bit worried that the update process will erase everything. Can anyone confirm that files stored in this manner survive? Will they be erased? I have no WiFi where I am
Three posts below your post:Exhibit A on "Repetitive Posts"Ntombi said:As was mentioned at least five times in this thread, it's the default.
Where is the new repeat function at or how do I test it out? I didn't see any options in the settings.
So basically this is a real 2.0?
Is any one in the UK, O2 network, having problems with internet?
My connection keeps dropping. Is it the network or is it the update that has screwed with my phone?
Man me too!!!!! 😡
This is a message board where dorks like us collect together and actually post messages regarding our experience of the download and install of the update of new firmware for our cell phones. People should probably point and laugh at all of us.
With that said, you're asking why I would post a message saying how long my backup is taking? This is exactly where I SHOULD post that. I post it so others will know that's my experience with this so far and therefore if they are experiencing it as well - they are not alone. The whole point of this board is so we can hear about this process of other users. Let people post on the board and stop complaining.
For an accurate test of your 3G signal strength, and to see if the 2.1 update really does someting, other than just bump the bars up visually, put your iPhone into "Field Test Mode" prior to the update and then after the update. Example:
To do so, go to the number pad and type *3001#12345#* hit send.
Look at the numeic indicator next to your carrier logo in the upper left of the screen. The lower the number, the weaker the signal. Keep in mind that all numbers are actually - negative. The closer to 0 the better the signal. This is resulted from the carrier, not from Apple.
-75 gives all 5 bars of strength. Call quality is perfect.
-105 no bars, just barely hanging on to 3G. Call quality is sub par.
to exit field test mode, just hit your home button. Ther are a slew of other things in this mode that you can see, but unless you are a UMTS technician, most of it will be gibberish to you. This will really tell you what is going on behind the scenes of the signal bar.

I rest my case. 😉
So basically this is a real 2.0?
just walked around the block where I know I have crappy signal strength. The update did nothing for it. I dropped two calls.
Just because they say you have 5 bars don't mean nothing. If they just make 3 bars pre 2.1 and now make it 5 bars what has changed? All this does is make me more pissed at Apple and AT&T. I most likely will sell my 3g and get the new blackberry when it comes out.
Oh, gotcha. Sorry, I misunderstood. 🙂You're very kind to continuously point out the same thing to different people. I was just referencing that everyone is still posting the same questions, not the fact that you were helping out with the answers. 🙂
enjoy the blackberry. some people just don't have luck with signal. in these cases, you go with the provider who offers you the best signal. but a blackberry with att will be the same as an iphone with att. your solution is to switch to sprint, verizon, t-mobile, etc.
