Is it safe to say 2.1 is the new 1.1.4?![]()
Not quite there yet
If people are having issues i suggest you restore the phone and start afresh, maybe some creaks from 2.0.2 have followed you to 2.1

Gah, I updated, Wordpress app still crashed, I restored the phone back to its factory settings and the app still crashes after I try and save my details, anyone else having this problem with wordpress?
Steve, up on stage in front of the entire Macworld crowd in January, did in fact promise us Application Push support in September. If they fail to deliver, it's just one more failure in a long list of failures. Apple's inability to hit promised dates with products that are stable and production ready has been tragic. The fact that it took them 3 months to release this update is testament to this. We all love Apple on this forum, or else we wouldn't be here, but they've really been screwing up lately -- and I feel they owe all 3G owners who purchased a phone pre-2.1 an apology (maybe even iTunes App Store Credit? or another form of compensation?)
Yeah, but gas prices are still way too high.
YES! In my apartment I was previously only able to get a cellphone tower fix.. now I get a blue pin drop, at the right place. Thanks Apple!the location system seems to be able to get a true GPS fix in places where it couldn't before, such as the basement of my house. Before, it couldn't get a GPS fix even on the main floor. Anyone else seeing significant GPS improvements?
Sorry I'm not going to read 1000+ comments, so what the crap happened to Push Notification??? From what I read at Apple Insider it is NOT in this update still. What's going on?
Also, VNC Light is broken with 2.1. Can't connect.
Please report the modem firmware version on first gen. iPhone after the 2.1 upgrade.
Thanks
USA AT&T Service - Non-Hacked - 1st Gen Original iPhone

Model MA712LL
Version 2.1 (5F136)
Modem Firmware 04.05.04_G
Carrier AT&T 2.6 (that looks new, I think it used to say just AT&T)
By the way, I've nearly confirmed there is a serious issue with decreased battery life after this 2.1 upgrade on my iPhone Original 8gig.
Battery is now down to 25% and I've not touched it since about 3 hours ago. Was completely charged this morning and after 2.1 update has benn rapidly falling. This is very very bad.
Sorry but maybe you do not understand that this iPhone is being released as 1 model all around the world in various markets. Some of those markets will have short form emergency dial numbers while others will not.
It just doesn't correspond to the emergency call function on any other mobile, i find it unsafe for all users not being able to block their sim card in reasonnable delays, and whose operators don't insure calls placed after the theft and until the sim deactivation.
Sorry for being surprised, but the "It has always been like this on the Iphone" doesn't seem to be an excuse for me...but that's just me then![]()
My update to 2.1 went on 3G steroids!

j/k... 3G works great now (or show I say shows up great?)!
The early 2.1 betas for developers had it, but then it was pulled out by Apple "for further development". My guess is they learned from the MobileMe debacle and decided not to stick to their announced release date at the expense of quality. In other words, it was not ready for prime time yet. No word on when we'll see it. But kudos to Apple for focusing on an update where everything works (at least for me).
