iPhone 2.1 Firmware Now Available

whoooo hoooooo its just arrived in Australia....

update took like 5 mins- its just backing up now. Can some one explain what the SMS update? something about 2 tones?
 
2.1 downloaded for me in less than 3 minutes. No bottleneck whatsoever. Of course, it helps that I get up to 30mbps download speed! :D Heck, I got out of bed 15 minutes ago and in that time I've eaten a bowl of cereal, walked into my den and checked for the iPhone update, downloaded it, installed it, and now my iPhone 3G is backing up and syncing. 2.1 is already installed in less than 10 minutes. :)

i work early, so i didn't get the update yet. so i'll be stuck in front of the computer reading your comments! Hopefully this is awesome. To be honest though, the genius feature is probably what I want the most! besides the darn sms lag fix
 
Was ready to head out the door, but decided to check MR again...
Just finished downloading, going to install soon...I'll post some comments later
 
Am I getting this right? Anyone can just take my phone and wipe all its data after they get the passcode wrong ten times? Not sure I like that.
 
Damn gotta wait to 3:30pm to install this (at work right now).

At least I can find out if the fix list is accurate before hand.
 
Completed the download and install on my 3g iphone.

Testing the backup speeds now and well not a good sign, the backup got 3/4 of the way in less than 3 minutes (which was great) but now has slowed down to a crawl................and at its current rate, looks like another hour or so


*Edit*..........AWESOME!!! after getting "stuck" 3/4 of the way through for a few minutes, iphone shook it off and finished the backup so the total backup was completed in about 12 minutes. Prior to this, my backups would take several hours, forcing me to run backups overnight while i slept.

You'd better sue your provider for false advertising of those speeds ;)

DC area, started the download at 9:23, the download finished at 9:28, and the update is in progress now. Edit: 9:37, done!
 
D/l = Fast

I just finished downloading and updating the firmware in a mere 20 minutes or so. Will backup tonight, but so far, so good... everything seems more responsive ... interesting to see if anyone has downloaded and installed any apps directly on the phone (I'm afraid to at this point without having my computer near me since this is what caused my crashing out and poor syncing last time).

Nearly done! 50% backup after the update, firmware too which i dont think happened with 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 and it needed to re-activate which i dont remember before either

Now up to 75% - hurry up i want to play!
 
Figures it comes just as I'm leaving for work. :rolleyes:
But I guess that's better in the end -- I'll download tonight after I see how it goes for everyone else first...

Way faster backup and the signal is stronger and stable. I have 3 bars inside the house where I never did before. Also maybe it is me , but the 3G indicator looks like it changed
