Am I getting this right? Anyone can just take my phone and wipe all its data after they get the passcode wrong ten times? Not sure I like that.

I like this feature. Given all of my e-mail accounts, web site logins, etc. that are on this phone, if someone is trying to break into my phone I absolutely want all of the data wiped.

After all, now that backups are supposedly faster, if the wipe was by accident is should be an easy restore to get everything back on there.

ha ha. Its 6 in the morning in Cali so I have awhile b4 I head out. Surprising mine downloaded in like 4 minutes. I wonder what the secret feature was?

Weird...when I restarted after the update, instead of showing the Apple logo it shows this...

there's a setting where you can have the auto erase turned on or off after the failed password attempts.

just send to [phone number]@vzwpix.net for verizon, and similar things to other networks. I can't remember them exactly, but it works just fine, and you dont get charged since its an email.
search on the web there is a site telling you how to do it.
This system is a poor excuse for MMS. I know, I *attempt* to use it quite frequently. It works some of the time and when it does work, it takes forever to send.

Completed the download and install on my 3g iphone.

Testing the backup speeds now and well not a good sign, the backup got 3/4 of the way in less than 3 minutes (which was great) but now has slowed down to a crawl................and at its current rate, looks like another hour or so

After it's done, do one more sync to see how fast it will be. Maybe the initial sync with 2.1 is more of a full while subsequent ones are incremental? One can only hope...

Finished installing

Things are definitely snappier, no lags whatsoever but i'm still wary given that this may just be the result of a restore

No new features that i can discern except Carrier is now listed in the About page (NB not Network) mine says O2 2.6

is it just me or the singal has gotten better as well..

now i get 5 bars under 3G signal where I used to only get 1-2 in the house.

Shake to shuffle???

It's not mentioned in the list... does anyone know whether this is included in 2.1

Repeat SMS notifications

This may have been mentioned, but I am elated by the feature included: repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages. This is going to be big for all of us who have oncall type jobs.

Thanks Apple! you really do look after us!
