Well I guess I'm screwed until apple releases iTunes 8.1, because iTunes 8 hasn't been launching on my computer.

Faster back up my butt. I only have like 3 gigs on my Iphone and it is moving at a snail's pace....

I downloaded but I'm waiting on a backup before installing via restore :(

Me six. This is going to take a while. Also, COPY AND FRIGGIN PASTE STEVE COPYS AND FRIGGIN PASTE.

I mean seriously was 2 alerts extra for a text message really above in priority to copy and paste?

This is my first post... i have NetShare (thanks to MacRumors!!)

updated to 2.1 and it looks like NetShare still works!!!

Hey, it's highly recommended that you go into 'Airplane mode' when making this update. Prevents interference or calls etc.

Installing it now...

Does it need to have contact with the network though while doing this update?

Seems alright so far. New EDGE and 3G icons, too. Look much better than before.

Can't seem to get genius working. Just doesn't show the icon.

I think Apple will now focus on new features as the push notification and perhaps MMS etc. I guess they wanted those features in 2.1 but with all the problems that the iPhone 3G had, they had to make 2.1 a pure bug fix release. Not much new in there actually.

So lets hope that they will soon give us a nice new feature update.

Netshare App Survives 2.1 Firmware Update

Just to let you lucky folks with Netshare App loaded up on your iPhone - it's still there after the upgrade! :):):) (haven't tested yet though)

New 3G symbol - no box

This may have been mentioned, but I am elated by the feature included: repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages. This is going to be big for all of us who have oncall type jobs.

Thanks Apple! you really do look after us!

So if I missed a text it can notify me up to twice more that I have texts? I actually like that feature. :)

Wow, everything I have seen so far is excellent. Full 3G signal now where there used to be 1-2 bars. Backups that used to take over 2 hours now take under five minutes.

I'm very happy so far.

there's a setting where you can have the auto erase turned on or off after the failed password attempts.

I wish they added something on the other end of the spectrum where it won't disable your phone and make you sync it with iTunes to reenable it. I like having a passcode on my iPhone to keep people from seeing my stuff, but my 12 year old sister likes to guess passwords, and would have disabled it a couple times already if I haven't grabbed it from her after guessing it like 4 times.

Remember, both of these options would be optional ;)

Ditto this. At&t's/apple's implementation is horrible. You can't receive them, have to use att's stupid login combinations - which you can't click on your sms you received telling you that you have one, att's site rarely loads in decent time - if at all, and you can't save or download the pics you receive.

There's no excuse for apple being negligent with this... or continuing to delay implementation of this and c&p - both of which every other pda can handle with ease. Hell, if MS can do it without a glitch...

Also, one should be able to postpone calendar alerts - to remind a little later.

This system is a poor excuse for MMS. I know, I *attempt* to use it quite frequently. It works some of the time and when it does work, it takes forever to send.
