We're all humans. Doesn't matter where we are from. A human invented the telephone; quite an accomplishment.
You just crushed my dream of getting powers from the yellow sun...

With the exception of Superman, of course. He is always excluded from blanket statements.
"Building a Toyota Prius causes more environmental damage than a Hummer that is on the road for three times longer than a Prius. As already noted, the Prius is partly driven by a battery which contains nickel. The nickel is mined and smelted at a plant in Sudbury, Ontario. This plant has caused so much environmental damage to the surrounding environment that NASA has used the dead zone around the plant to test moon rovers. The area around the plant is devoid of any life for miles." - Chris Demorro
Not everybody lives in the US. You know the world existed many many years before the US even was discovered...

Let me guess... you are a republican, are you? Not that I care, but advocating a Hummer is ridiculous.
In any case, according to some, if you own an iphone, then you should drive a Prius.![]()
What about landscape mode for texting like they had on the old iphones? Has anyone heard about plans to bring this back?
You want to send a nice video message to your girlfriend. She has a typical mobile phone. You send her an email but she will see it when she will go online. If you had MMS, you would create a nice video and send it immediately and your girlfriend would see it at the same time. That's direct communication...This feature is also missing from the iPhone...
Rogers in Canada doesn't allow one to send or receive MMS outside your own network. Not sure if AT&T in the USA is like that though.

yes, the US was 'discovered'... ok.
Looks like 2.1 is now available (at least in the UK anyway) http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/
Japan is actually more mature in mobile phones technology. I think though that if Japan more advanced is or not, is irrelevant. MMS is something that ALL mobile phones all over the world support. The iPhone should have it.
I don't use MMS, I never liked it but most people do.
There are other issues with the iPhone that a simple software update can solve:
- Bluetooth support for file transfers. This is a must. I don't get it why Apple doesn't support that.
- Forwarding of an SMS message...no comments here
- copy/paste
I eagerly updated to the new 2.1, from 2.0.2 around 11am Friday EST. I used my work PC, which isn't the normal PC I sync with. It was updated to iTunes 8.0 as well.
After the update my iPhone showed 5 bars and a slightly different color 3G icon. However, it took me from 2 to 3 times to send an SMS message. Previously my SMS messages rarely failed to send, unless I was at less than 1 bar.
I made phone calls on the way back from work down I-95 and dropped calls continually. I tried calling back on number 7 times and got "call failed". Calls took longer to connect for some reason. I finally turned the phone off and on again in hopes that would make a difference. I was finally able to call the person back, but they were jilted and told me to call back later that night from my home phone. Needless to say, I was dissappointed.
I went home and tried to restore my iPhone to 2.0.1, but iTunes wouldn't let me. I even tried the control-shift-Restore trick (option on mac) and the restore always failed half-way through.
I finally gave up and let it put 2.1 back on. Some posts say if you put a clean copy on it works better and you get a few additional features. How does one put a "clean copy" on? Has anyone else had the same experience I had with WORSE call or SMS service? Again, my service was much better before the update, which is surprising. Or is it? Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks,
J.
