Not sure if this was mentioned, but you have to go into Services and turn on Location Services before it will use GPS. Before you could just click "Allow" and it would turn on.

I believe from other threads that this only happens in the maps app.

Is it just me, or are the screens rotating faster?

If you are using calculator or Safari and you rotate your phone 90degrees, it seems like it's rotating faster now. There used to be a lag. Do the rest of you see this, or is it just me?

The calculator app seems like it's definately rotating faster than it did before the update.

Is it just me, or has the "Update All" button been removed from the (mobile) App Store? I have tried rebooting but it no longer appears for me.

Also - has anyone got a bit of lag in the Camera app after taking a photograph? I seem to.

I noticed while syncing if you receive a call it resumes syncing where it left off once the iPhone stops ringing. In the past I had gotten in the habit of turning the iPhone on airplane mode to avoid disrupting and having to restart what have recently become lengthy syncs. Just after updating I was resyncing everything back to the phone and halfway though someone called, I of course was very frustrated and then relieved to see it start back up.

I am not going to argue about it.

But just for reference, are you talking about with or without headphones?

I tested it today without head phones, and when I turned down my iPod, and then pressed home, and then went in to settings, my ringer volume was down and not on full like it was before I started the process.

Then I went back to iPod, turned the volume to full blast, and went back to settings, and my ringer was at full blast.

And I know for a fact I am not the only one that has this complaint about iPhone 3G. It is WELL documented.

I never noticed this, because I never looked at my settings for sound. I always based my on what the screen tells me when I hit the side buttons. I still have 2.0.2 and my ringer volume was always different from my iPod volume. I did what you said to see if that was the case. I had my iPod volume at full blast. Using the slider, I put it down to nothing. Then I paused the playback and went to Settings->Sounds and noticed that the slider there corresponded to what my iPod setting was. Then I tired two things, using the side buttons to increase/decrease the ringer volume and I saw the slider jump from 0 to full. Then I redid the test, and instead of using the side buttons, I called my phone. Even though the slider was at the 0 end, my phone rang at full volume (where I had it initially). When I declined the call, it went back to the settings menu and the volume slider was at full. So to me, it looks like 2.1 just updated the volume slider in the settings screen appropriately. Anyways, that's just my two cents. As a software developer, I know my experience doesn't mean it's the same for everyone, so others may very well have different results.

Cheers,
Sunil

Yes it was, my iPod is almost always at 1 click from silent, my ringer is always full.

Many people including myself on 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 have experienced the ringer volume adjusting down as you adjust down your music volume.

I think I read somewhere the turning up video volume resolved it, but I'm not sure. Perhaps we don't know all the dynamics behind it, what makes it happen, what makes it no happen, but either way the problem existed because many of us have experienced it.

I don't get the bluetooth headset part. I've got a cheap motorola bluetooth headset, and have always been able to use it for voicemail. Is this something else?

The problem appeared with v2.0 firmware.

You could use your Bluetooth headset to listen to Voice Mail all the way to v1.14. When Apple introduced v2.0 for the iPhone, they broke Bluetooth for Voice Mail. 2.1 has now re-enabled it.

Where is this configured or set up?

I haven’t seen anyone comment on it yet.

I don't think there is any setup, I think the iPhone just notificates you with a sound twice, probably between 5 minute intervals.

Not sure though.

In the iPod App, and you are playing a song, tapping to bring up the progress bar also automatically displays the lyrics, instead of a double-tap bring it up. The double-tap now takes you to the album that song is part of.

I think this is new:

If you are watching a video in the iPod function, it automatically goes into Landscape mode, right? But if you turn the phone the opposite way, the video will flip in the opposite orientation too.

this isn't really helpful for any one. but i just wanted to say that to me everything seems to be working smoother than before the update. i'm very happy about this update. also this is a great thread. :)

Not really a feature, but Settings > About now shows the carrier bundle version you are using. AT&T is at 2.6.

I wrote this in the other thread but this one seems better. When you turn off SMS preview under settings, now it just says New Text Message, instead of saying New Text Message from________. Before even though it would'nt preview the text message, it would still tell you who wrote it. Now it lets you be even more secretive by just saying you have a new text without the persons name.

How/where do you activate this in Settings?

When listening to a song in the iPod, tapping the album artwork brings up the progress bar and also automatically displays the lyrics. Originally, you would need to double-tap the album artwork to bring the lyrics up. Instead, double-tapping now allows you to scroll through the songs on that album. (Credit to TEG).

This is exactly how it functioned in 2.0 and after...

The double tap I didn't discover until after 2.0 was released (might have been there before) but as soon as lyric support was added a single tap brought them up...

I use both of those features daily.
