I noticed it too. It generally happens after updates bc the whole system is restored. It'll prb slow down over time.

Something else I noticed is in apps that have dots on the bottom, like the home screens (weather and accufuel to name 2) is he you can likewise tap the dots or left and right of them to advance the screens.

for me, it has been staying responsive over time as well. much more stable than 2.1.

They fixed the bug in the Mail app.

Before when you open the Mail app, and type anything in the Body area then end it with a period directly followed by a capital letter, hitting backspace after that will delete the whole thing that you typed continuously.

Ex: "Type this in your mail.A" then hit Backspace see what happens.

With 2.2 the bug has been resolved. Wohoo. Thanks Apple for listening to some of our bug complaints.

I wish they would include an option to not automatically download linked html images from emails. I'm always afraid I'll accidentally click on a spam email and cause my phone to connect to some sketchy server and download who knows what as well as informing them that it was read.

This is a basic commonsense security option that is available on every other mail client or web client I've used.

if someone sends me a link to an app and I click on the link on my phone it will not take me to the app store but opens safari instead
anyone else got this? a bug?

New feature: When making/receiving a call with the headphones, the volume control is now totally independant. On previous versions, if you had the iPod "Volume Limit" on, the volume oh the headphone was also limited, now its independant.

Well done! I have the iPod volume limited to 60% and when i received a call i could barely hear, now it perfect!

1 year waiting this upgrade :p

See you!!

sorry if this has been posted already, but dies anyone know if the 2.2 update will lock the baseband on the iphone? When I updated to 2.1, my phone was still unlocked, I am hopingbthat 2.2 will do the same. Thanks

One big bug fix that has not been noted is that the Mail app no longer automatically sends raunchy pictures of me to girls in my address book that are not my girlfriend. Thank god this issue has been resolved.

****Should be mentioned in the first post and on the MacRumors main article as it is such a HUGE fix.

I'm not to sure if this had been said but before I got the 2.2 update everytime I received a text message it said "New Text Message". Now when I receive when its saying "John Appleseed Text Message". How do I change it back, so it just says New Text Message?

According to what I have been reading it does lock the baseband, but it's been unlocked already.

Hahahahaha. Someone should post that in the original thread on Apple.

They still haven't fixed the bug with the data counter on the usage page. I noticed this way back on 2.0. Unless you flick on and off airplane mode before power cycling, you usually lose any data count that accumulated since the last power cycle. Makes it somewhat useless if you like to accurately meter your usage. Call minutes seem to record fine, though. Anyone else seen this?

Now there's a big chance that I'm wrong, but when you take a screenshot it now not only flashes a white flash on the screen, but also plays the sound of taking a picture in the camera app

Is this new in 2.2? I haven't taken screenshots since 2.0.

You're like the fourth person in the thread to ask that for some reason. That has all been there, as it is (there have been absolutely no changes), since 2.0

Wow that's really odd. I'm positive I didn't have it before
Might there have been a bug of some sorts? Or maybe I always took screenshots in silent mode? But that also seems strange.

I guess I'll never know.

Edit: According to wiki (I know), It's from 2.1. NOT 2.0.
"When taking a screen-shot of your phone, there is now the camera shutter noise"

Just wanted to clear that up. Note that I wrote earlier that I hadn't taken any screenshots since 2.0.

Are you sure about that bug??
If true, then it's useless.

Does as always - jumps to the page you came from.

This isn't when you are in an app. The new feature occurs when you are on another one of your home pages. If you press it then it jumps you to page one. That would be a horrible feature if it brought you to page one every time you exited an app.

The iPhone now enforces a stricter limit on how long Application's names can be. Here's an example:

On 2.1 I used Rename.app to change "BrainChal." to "BrainChallenge" because it looked better on by homescreen.
Now, I went to rename "BrainChal." to "BrainChallenge" on 2.2 and it got cut off.
2.1 is on the left, 2.2 is on the right, all of the applications have different spacing now. It's not noticeable at first glance, but it's there.
