On the Home Screen you can press the little bullets to change to a different Home Screen.

Not sure if this was in previous updates but I just noticed it today.

Yeah, I can not remember either, but that IS a neat feature.

(This might be my first post...I forget. exciting huh?)

EDIT: Yeah, I must have been smoking something, I thought it was skipping multiple pages. But nope, just one at a time. Not that exciting.

I have a MobileME email account with Apple and there is a new option in the MobileME menu. When you go into the MobileME applications the options are:

Inbox
Drafts
Sent
Trash
Apple Mail To Do (this is new and I believe wasn't there before the update)
Junk (email address is shown)

Am I wrong? I think this is new but I have no idea what it is for.

Anyone know?

Where are you seeing these settings? On the iPhone or on the Mac? Please give more details so that we might be able to check it out too.

To all of those wondering about App sounds stopping once you lock the screen: If you allow the PHONE to cut the screen off on it's own the sound will not stop. As where if YOU turn the screen off then it will.

Sorry, but this does not work as you are saying.

I believe this happened in 2.1

Regards James

In 2.0 it used to move the app to the first open space and leave it there.

In 2.1 it downloaded the app into the first open space and then replaced it in the existing space when it was done downloading.

In 2.2 it downloads directly to the existing location.

Jailbreaking the iPhone

I love the iPhone and truly believe it is an excellent piece of technology. Unfortunately I have come to the sobering realization that Apple does not have the consumers best interest at heart.

My iPhone is gone. I called both AT&T and Apple to see what could be done to help. All AT&T could/would do is deactivate my service. Apple was even less helpful. All they could do was empathize with my loss... There is also no insurance offered!

Apple knows that my phone has unique numbers (serial, IMEI, ICCID). The phone is uniquely identified whenever it makes a connection to the iTunes/App Store. Apple refuses to allow owners to be notified whenever a reported missing/stolen phone is reconnected to the network. This allows stolen phones to be used with no fear of recompense. They also will NOT allow the phone to be located.

There is no way for a stock phone to be configured by the owner to report its location (beacon) in the background. Applications that provide a function like this must be running in the foreground to be active. A lost or stolen phone could quickly be found by its owner if this were possible.

This is a feature that I find necessary since my iPhone (with ALL of my personal information, apps and music) is likely in the hands of someone.

I have no desire to ruin my phone or void my warranty, but the loss of another iPhone with no options to find it is unacceptable. My understanding of a jailbroken phone is that I can run a program (undetectable by the thief) to track it's location. This is not something I would need to consider if Apple would keep thieves from freely using it!

These are all the choices I have. hmmmm..

I don't know about MobileMe but my Gmail account has always showed Apple Mail To Do (2.0+).

That's not new and has nothing to do with the update. That's just a part of mobileme.

Does anybody know if you can subscribe to podcasts and have over the air downloads? I love having OTA downloads and streaming, but it would be nice if it just popped up in the ipod section instead of having to go into itunes to see if there is a new podcast out....

I don't think so, but maybe I'm wrong. Before I had to completely shut off airplane mode to get to the web. It prompted you to the settings tab, but that was to shut off airplane mode. Maybe the feature was there, but they have definitely changed the language.
Until recently, I didnt have a data plan and I have been using Wifi in airplane mode since August. ;)

Are you really that shallow?

And are you really that naive?

Your entire post is about other people doing things for you ... insurance, having beacons or other ways to locate your phone, and on and on. Where did you read that these things were present? My guess: nowhere. You just feel you're entitled to it because.... because you feel you're entitled.

Time to grow up and live with the consequences of your own decisions. When you bought the phone you knew it could be lost. You knew it could be stolen. That's part of life, sadly. But did YOU take out insurance? Sounds like you didn't. Why not? Who knows. But you want someone else to provide it for you, of course. Free, of course.

And you have the gall to call someone else shallow.

I read several references to jailbreaking within this thread. The question was posed as to why anyone would want to. My post was the reason why I would consider it.

I'll post in a new thread.

Don't read your issues into my post.

Having my iPhone gone is unfortunate, but a fact of life.
I'm not whining about it, but stating it as a circumstance.
When I bought it, I asked if insurance was an option (at my cost). It wasn't.

The problem is that Apple does nothing to keep it from being used illegally. Bottom line. They could flag it's ID and lock it out and/or notify the owner when it's re-registered very easily. This could deter theft at the very least, or return a phone in a best case scenario.

When updating an app on iPhone, there is no more blank icon. It goes right to the screen where the app resides an shows the progress bar. It used to have a blank icon on the first space available and then transfer to the actual space that the app is in.

I don't know if this has been said already, but 2.2 trims app names so it fits on one line without scaling. See the app iCanHasCheezburger:
