Hello All.

I was happy to see they inproved a lot of things. One thing I can't figure it out is the alert on the txt message. I know on 2.1 we only seen "New Text Message" ...

Now with the upgrade to 2.2 it shows the person that is txt you. Is there a way to turn this off and go back to the image below?

Other thing also my ringer sound is gone... Nothing I can't hear anything now. I tried to call myself from work nothing. Is anyone having this issue now also.

Do you have your phone password protected, or no ?
I remember them talking about adding a feature where you could choose to not display the text of text messages. Maybe they just defaulted this feature into "password protect" in the 2.2 Update.

Dude, if it's displaying the photo of the person, when you want your phone on private, that's a HUGE bug !!!!

Tested both my iPhone 3G and iPhone with 2.2 and the ringer is still present.

Has anyone tried to update an app yet from within the iPhone? Does it work now?

That has always worked for me with no problems. Supposedly there is going to be an "Apply all updates" option too but I don't know yet because I didn't get any updates today.

Yes I have my phone locked... The only picture that shows is my background image and the persons name who txt me.

If you mean the photo (background image). That's actually my niece. :p That's a screenshot from my old thread (iPhone 2.1 Update, new & undocumented features/fixes screenshots).

I have no AM/PM indicator...

My unlock screen isn't displaying the AM/PM anymore either. I want AM/PM displayed. If yours is displaying it, and three of us are reporting that we are not, then maybe there's some type of switch to turn it on or off.

Nope. I didn't turn any 'option' on or off. I just put the 24-Hour Time to "OFF" a while back. My Time Zone is set to London aswell; don't know if that has anything to do with the issue?

Here's a screenshot (you can now take screenshots while on the unlock screen; hence why I needed to take an actual photograph of the screenshot above!):

Ah, Britney - back when she was pretty. ;)

Great thread again, justinomg. STICKY!

Thanks! It's actually a recent promotional for her current single.

Haven't you seen her lately? She looks great; and I don't mean by airbrushing.

I wonder if it's not carrier-specific. O2 versus AT&T.

Also, do you know what "Reset Location Warnings" means ? Thank you. :)

And your phone seems to have "November 21" in the wrong order. LOL! :D

LOL. Is it because my Time Zone is set to London though?

And "Reset Location Warnings" might reset warnings which appear when an application wants to access your current location? I don't know.

when you double-click the home button while music is playing, it now pops up the song info, controls and a button asking if you'd like to return to the ipod. pardon if this isn't new, i just saw it for the first time...

This feature is (quite) old, not sure which version it was implemented into though.

Just got this in my email from Apple...

.

A few people have received that e-mail. I haven't yet myself.

Just to elaborate, I mean if you set Twinkle to allow to gather information on your location, and have now decided that you no longer want it to, maybe it means to erase that?

It says you can get public transit info also. How? When I click on the bus icons on Google Maps. nothing happens. Does this only work in major urban areas, or does it work in all urban areas?

Originally, I thought it ment you could click a bus icon and find directions to it. Now I think it just means if you "Get Directions" for one location to another, it offers how long it will take with public transit.

Although, again, I haven't got a clue.

I just noticed that when switching to the scientific calculator, it seems to be much 'snappier'
Also with the calculator I believe that the now "+/-" sign used to be different? Not sure though.

Edit: Another thing with the calculator is that the 2nd function button is coloured when pressed

Why is that I don't get the AM/PM next to my time. It's looks like the image above me.

I read on Apple's site that a part of the 2.2 update was not letting any number dial through when in the 'Emergency Calls' screen.

"This update addresses the issue by restricting emergency calls to a limited set of phone numbers."

Mine still dials anything I like. Is it just mine??

Things I have personally noticed on my White iPhone 3G throughout the day:
- Better Battery life
- Increase in performance -(reduced lag)
- Snappier loading in almost all windows
- MUCH more responsive accelerometer controls. In Apps like Photos, Safari, and Calculator.

Mine has been backing up now for about 10 minutes. Ugh.

Still trying to update.

You are right that there is a difference. They changed the design of the "+/-" key.

They did not correct the critical flaw though. The scientific calculator lacks an inverse log base ten key. There's a key for "log" but no key for "10^x"
TERRIBLE !!!!

Normally, I use a Texas Instruments Voyage 200 graphing calculator, and I use my iPhone calculator from time to time because it's in my pocket ... but a lack of inverse log base ten is terrible!
