didnot you see ppl from ShenZhen, China, already mention that? It is web infor, it may be wrong. But when you enjoy and spread it out, have you thought about the consequences? and if that is true, have you ever thought of doing sth for the poor girl, like writing to apple to help her? ( nothing to do with government, okay? ) while the guys here so concern about communist government cruelty, have they ever used their brain to think that the fire was requested by the company, i will criticize it more on apple company culture, or.... the culture from western? She DIDNOT DO A DECENT PROFESSIONAL THING, SO SHE HAS TO BE FIRED. FULL STOP.

And for the age thing, i tell you what, igirl is anywhere inbetween 16-20, (yeah, i even give a 20 guess, coz i myself looks like that in my 24). a normal with full diet girl could be like that. And gymnastics, they purposely delay puberty by large amount sports and skip dinner, yeah, very cruel..... I bet liukin on diet also, but she is 19.
And most important of all, I really loved our gymnastic as little sister, coz they are not like western kids, know how to show their feminine as early as from childhood 10,11, western kids starts to get bf in that age, isnot it? knowing all the things about sex, how could they look like little kids as our girls. You can say Chinese are idiots, baby controled by the mother and family and whatever, government, .... blahblah,
But have you respect others? respect what they are? Chinese are less energetic means inferior? and that is the result of government control, oppress? Pls, pls, respect others, not select the stuff you want to support or oppose
I will give you 100% fully support if you criticize that forge age is probable because earlier news from china state agency somehow conflict with current infor. Yeah, I will give that a wow, you said it. But looks like baby, girl with baby teeth, pls, joke can, but think also please. I think the government is a despicable accomplices, they promise to protect the poor from the rich, wat a joke. But the international company is a big joke, will us chinese reject an offer of a full pay as high as usa worker, european worker? And even if we "beg" for a bit lower than the pay, will the international company give us the job?
Then when all the chinese loose job while our government not so mercy as yours that could afford our welfare, will you donate to china poor ppl? or they deserve what they earn, let them eat rice and vege, dont drink milk and save the milk for the rest of the world, like usa... a win win situation?

A few years back when I bought my Sony MZ-R91 minidisc player, there was a name already in the systems memory (I forgot the exact details, but IIRC you could store names on some ram chip for transferring to minidisc easy... kinda like copy/paste). But the text was in Chinese! I copied them into Yahoo search and found it was some singer or something.
I've still got that minidisc player somewhere :3

So I work for a news magazine.. and I got the AFP email about this issue.. I figured I'd quote the "official" statements from the representatives:
SHANGHAI, Aug 27 2008 (AFP) - A Chinese factory worker has become a celebrity after her smiling face was accidentally loaded onto an Apple Iphone and shipped to the other side of the world, her employer said Wednesday.
The unidentified worker flashed a smile and made a peace sign to a co-worker whose job was to test the device's camera in the southern city of shenzhen, said a spokesman for Foxcon:
1. "small mistakes are unavoidable," Liu said. "I would call this a beautiful mistake."
2. Liu said the factory worker was unsettled by the sudden fame after her photo appeared on websites and newspapers, and that her bosses had assured her that her job is safe. he said the company would not release her name or any details.

i am a chinese, i saw this news from a chinese newspaper today and i searched for this original post.
as i know from the newspaper, the administrators claimed that they did not fire the girl (not sure it is true or not).
and it looks like there are a lot of people already searching for the girl.
so i believe we will discover the truth very soon.
about the salary, RMB 1800 is quite a lot in china.
10 years ago my mon was working for rmb500 a month, and my dad rmb1500 (being a waitess and a chef)
i believe 1800, or even just 1000 is quite enough for a young girl in her age.
anyways i am not so sure about the situation in china now, as i immigrated to US 7 years ago. these are just my opinions.
