I have noticed the my standy usage is NOT resetting, when I charge it up and then disconnect.

So, these screenshots might not be telling the whole story.

My usage is resetting after a charge. Not sure if anyone else is having your issue or not.

I'm removing all third party apps and giving it another go. I'll post my screenshots.

Here is my usage stats this evening.

Oddly, I was first concerned with the fact that it took the phone roughly 3 hours to charge from completely dead to 100% on USB last night.

My use today consisted of using maps, GPS, surfing quite a bit on both 3G and Edge, and about 1.5 hours on WiFi.

Are these results normal, and is 3 hours to completely recharge normal as well? This is my first iPhone.

Last night it was fully charged, rebooted it and left it in standby with Wifi, location off, push off, manual fetch on an IMAP and push on an Exchange account. I was down to 77% by morning. On my 2G same set up, the bar would still be all green.

So, something is up here. Tonight I'll do the same but put it in airplane mode and see what happens. I added a bunch of apps, but not sure why that should matter. I'll just keep using it and give the battery some work

My 3G is getting about 5 hours before hitting the 10% mark and with about 20 hours standby... I'm worried I'd be giving up battery life by moving to a 3G S.
Wow.

5 hours of usage in one charge?

My 3G would need TWO full charges to get that much usage.

My 3GS, so far, is WAY better than my 3G as far as battery is concerned.

Since I drained my 3Gs down to 0% and let it shut off, my battery is holding a much better charge.

Any more on this guys? I ran it down again today to 0% (until it shut off) and it seems I'm getting a bit better but still not as impressed with it as I thought I would be. Here is my latest usage statistics. I'm going to leave it on overnight to see how my mix of usage works out, then try it with 3G off most of the time tommorow to see how it works off. 3G seems to be the problem since I'm not in a super strong 3G area most of the time. Also I'm wondering, does location services on or off make a big difference? It doesn't use power if you leave them on does it? This is on a restore from my old iPhone too. Thanks.

im loving the battery life. use the wifi for data as much as possible and your gonna see good numbers. wifi power is where apple looks to have made the most inroads.

Forgot to take a screenshot :( but I got about 7 hours usage and 1 day 10 hours standby.

Which is pretty nifty seeing how much of that was Safari browsing and 3G on all day.

Well these are good numbers. I wish I was seeing this kind of results from mine. How many of you are coming from a 2G?

After about two weeks of use, the battery in my iPhone 3G broke in and I was able to get about an hour longer battery life than I did at first. I pretty much always get about four and a half hours of usage on my iPhone 3G before it goes dead. From the screenshots here, it looks like after the battery on the iPhone 3G S breaks in you can easily get a good five and a half to six hours, maybe even more.

Usage includes calls, texts, maps, twitter apps, facebook, ipod, web browsing, games, some other apps, etc. Basically just about everything...heavy usage, no idling!

Had to charge before taking this one but, as you can see, I get a lot of use out of it.

EDIT: Interesting how I sent less data than I did earlier, WTF? lol

Don't want to put this in a bad way, but spending 4 hours on a phone within 6 hours in kind of a lot, lol. I still get around 6 hours usage within 2-3 days on my 3G, with Location Services On, Wi-Fi on as much as I can at home, and email/web browsing. If I manage to sell my 3G for $300, hopefully I can post one of these screenshots soon with a 3GS!

Bluetooth was used all day, 3g was on all day, Push was on, 4 emails, 2 calendars, and 1 exchange were in sync.

My guesstimated usage: (in amount of % time)

~30% talk time
~30% web use via 3g/edge (mostly 3g)
~20% web use via wi-fi ar work/home
~10% beejive IM
~10% other (text free, normal texts, and email, oh and ebay mobile app a few times, and a few tunes on itunes)

In general considering I didn't try to save battery today, I just left everything on and going and it still did pretty well.

My screenshot on my 3GS with everything possible on. I use for emails, web, pictures and video, iPod (to and from work) text messages, facebook, twitter, etc.

I did fully charge my phone before using it on day 1 and then fully discharged (with a movie) until it shut down about 3am that night. I then fully recharged and ran it all day again until it was fully discharged that night. I feel that this battery calibration adds immensely to the battery life... Going through two full cycles back-to-back when the battery is new. I tried to run it out the third night but fell asleep with 30% charge still on it. Each percentage seemed to take longer than the day 1 life after doing this. Anyone else have this experience?

I did this with both of my other iPhones and had great battery life on each of those as well.

What does it mean by Standby? does this mean after the last charge i would have 1 hr 26 minutes left? I keep it on 3G, no bluetooth, maybe 1hr of facebook, safari on 3G, 1hr of facebook and safari on wifi. I have notifications off, location services off.

Hi,
I did some testing and I am 90% sure that the more the battery gets drained the slower the % indicator of the battery goes down.
e.g.
To go from 100% to 90% is much faster then if you go from 40% to 30% for example and so on.

I think this has something to do with how it measures the voltage or something.

Anyway no screenshoot but I had 6 hours of usage and 9% left. That is mostly 3G mail, some apps, a bit of gaming and ipod. Hardly any calls.

So I think the battery is fine.

Since I drained my 3Gs down to 0% and let it shut off, my battery is holding a much better charge.

exactly. since i did a complete cycle, i had two days of normal websurfing, phone calls, texts, maps, which is all used quite a bit on wifi, and was down to only 68% battery! though i did end up charging it last night. im loving the batter life on my 3gs!

It means the amount of time you have left ur phone idle since the last full charge.

after having 100% charge this morning and 37 minutes of talk time (no safari, no email, no apps, no texts) i have 72%. I called the 800 number this morning and they set up an appt at the Genius bar for me tonight. Hopefully we'll find out what the deal is, but those numbers are unaaceptable
