I hope they just get rid of all other models except the new iPhone HD and have a lower cost one with less storage like 8GB or 16GB. That would help to not fragment the platform with these new features like iChat video calls etc.

I agree with this. Would be a good idea

I dont know why, but i have a feeling that both 3G & 3GS models will outrun. Like the first gen iphone, as with every new design they normally just scrap the old ones.

But i cant wait for the new iphone, 13 days left. And i have already sold my iPhone 3GS 16 gbs. So i am now without an iphone till the new one comes out.

I thought that in the UK the likes of o2 and Carphone Warehouse would sell off the remaining 3G models of at a one off price like they did with the 1st gen iPhones. I remember buying one for £149 and unlocking it straight away. A few months later I sold it for more than I bought it for.

That's a really weak argument for your original assertion............. but you're entitled to your opinion.

cheers
JohnG

What's not opinion is the price it actually sells for. Just check the image attached to this article and you'll see it's much, much more than $99.

With Steve saying one more thing "were going to sell all iPhones 100% contact free, you pick your carrier".... supposing theres a CDMA version. Not going to happen buy a guy can dream :)

They do that in part already, but I'd be very surprised if they hit the CDMA button!

Inflation is at almost an all-time low dude. The US dollar is worth a lot right now, they aren't going to increase the price. It is going to stay 199/299

Dollar_value_chart.gif

The value of $1 over time, in 1776 dollars.

You're hilarious!

I am really wondering if they will make the 32GB the low end 99.99 iPhone and 64GB iPhone HD at 199.99 only two models... you would never be able to get one though production would never handle that.

We know for sure its going to be at least a 3GS 16GB for 99.99

I wonder if they will max out at 128GB...

As long as I can get the HD/4G for 199.99 then I am good.

iPhone 4G 16GB for $199
iPhone 4G 32GB for $299
iPhone 4G 64GB for $399
iPhone 3GS 16GB for $99

Flash memory prices has been rising. 32GB MLC Flash Memory prices were

Nov, 2008 = $43
May, 2009 = $60
May, 2010 = $60

I don't think Apple can offer iPhone 4G 64GB for $299.

Predictions for WWDC

Gee, I wonder what Steve is going to announce...

Here are my predictions for WWDC. Take them or call me a jackass. Either way, we will see if I buy you a drink or you buy me a drink around Moscone next month.

1) Next generation iPhone is announced. The number "4" is no where in the name as that number is considered unlucky in many Asian cultures. My guess of a name the "iPhone HD."

2) A super mondo, Mac Mini is launched with Blu Ray, quad core, lots of memory and an HDMI port along with the existing DVI port. There is special developer pricing on it and units are ready for sale at WWDC. My name guess for this one is the "Mac Mini Pro."

3) Steve does his classic "One more thing..." and it is huge! The "F**k you Google" launches with my guess of the name "iSearch." It is a direct competitor to the Google search engine and claims better search routines collected from an assortment of disgruntled former Yahoo and Google techies that were not given the reward they felt the deserved. This throws both gauntlets down in Mountain View's direction. Updates of Snow Leopard and iPhone OS 4 have APIs to access this search engine.

The take is the reality of the iPhone "leaks" may have been planned to take attention form 2) and 3) in this list.

FYI, I have no NDAs with Apple an haven't been on the Cupertino campus in over ten years. This is all from career experience and conjecture based on public data.

Enjoy!

they say it's a 99% chance. i can't wait for it. on my opinion iphone is the best thing that ever happened in the phone's world

I really am hoping for iChat above everything else. Whether it has 64 or 128gb is irrelevant. Being able to see my wife and kids when I'm traveling is huge! I have a feeling that this launch could cripple droid for good. I have played with them and not impressed. I would rather have my 3G than a droid.

You're just coming off as stupid.

So I am coming off as stupid by replying to a quote from a movie, with a quote from the same movie? I know it is more then a little off topic, but I would hardly call it stupid.

On topic... I hope that they price the 32GB at $199. My birthday is in june, and it would be a great gift for myself. :)

Ha ha. This is the sanest and wittiest post in this thread. Nice work.

I'm hoping for refreshed iMacs (even if it's a quiet update but not holding my breath). My 7,1 iMac needs replaced now, it just isn't cutting it for me anymore.

If, whenever they refresh the line, they don't get rid of the Core 2 Duos and offer the i5s at a decent price point I'm going to build a Hackintosh. I'm not paying ~£1400 (Edu discount).

I think we all knew this was going to happen, it's the 3G's turn to go the way of the original iPhone, much like next year it will be the turn of the 3GS.

On saying that, I thought maybe ... just maybe ... Apple would have brought the iPhone 3G down to available as free on contract, making it an ideal "entry level" iPhone. Then again, with the model not compatible with all of OS 4.0's features, that knocked that idea on the head.

Ah well, at least the 3G shares the same design as the 3GS, and to the naked eye they look identical (aside from the iPhone font on the rear of the handset being an easier to read tone).

$99 3GS 16 gb
$199 HD 32 gb
$229 HD 32 gb (without seams)
$249 HD 32 gb (without seams , without screws)
$299 HD 64 gb (with seams , without screws)

:)

You are totally wrong dude.
The leaked iphone pics have shown 16 gb, so a 16 gb iphone HD/4G is 100% coming.

here is what i think the prices would be:

99$ 3GS 16 GB (32 gb are sold out here in Denmark and no dates are available, which means no 32 gbs of 3GS. This also happend last year when 16 gb of 3G was removed and only 8 gb was available)
199$ HD/4G 16 gb
299$ HD/4G 32 gb
NO 64 GB versions... And if they will be available then the price would be 399$, which i personally think is too expensive.

They gave you money back?? If you lose your phone in the US they give you a shrug and offer to sell you a new one.

I'm assuming he has insurance. Interesting as my 3g is really playing up and I suspect water has got in from bathing the kids. If it packs up I'm nit sure I can live without an iPhone until the new one comes out!!!
