Is there pocket lint in the headphone jack?

No. It is absolutely heat related. I've cleaned the headphone jack with canned air, cue tip, the Apple store even opened my phone and checked the connections twice. It's come to the point where the phone heats up after a 5 minute phone call, I all of a sudden can't hear the person anymore, and I have to rush to connect the headphones before the person I'm talking to thinks the call is dropped.

Then when I'm done and I remove the headphones, the iPod starts to play music out of the speaker.

Are you insane? Do you even know how economics work? The only way to truly gage any currency is against an inflation proof medium like Gold. Please research prior to posting such nonsense.

Agreed, US$ isn't worth much right now, it's taken a fair beating. Prepare to see goods become more expensive in the US, iphones included.

THEY'RE COMING !!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds similar to me but as well as the iPod starting to play randomly I find it very difficult to get into the iPod app now. Very often it starts up then just kicks me out straight away. I'm kind of hoping it is water damage as o2 insurance covers that but not software faults. I'm going to have to take mine to apple store to get checked out.

iPhone pricing freedom

I wonder if Apple is going to allow the carriers to set their own subsidised price points for the iPhone 3GS, to promote growth of the handset in the market?

You can pretty much get all of the high end android-based handsets for free on standard contracts here in the UK, which is giving these brands access to the run of the mill Brit, while the iPhone, you not only have to pay a poorly subsidised price but you also have to jump onto a iPhone only contract which has little or no benefits.

I know all of this was originally set up due to the high data demand of the handset, but many smart phones now are using the same, if not more, data day-to-day.

Perhaps it's time to see how many iPhones would get sold if it came onto standard contracts and carrier controlled subsidies?

That might be it for the 3G model. In the US store, the 3G 8GB phone doesn't even have a "select" button as of right now. It is a Tuesday morning, but usually the whole store goes down while they tweak things.

They already do that. The market response was huge and the upfront price variance between carriers was noticeable, along with a bunch of very aggressive and fair value deals on data plans.

Although everybody is discussing pricing of the new iPhone or whatever now, just wanna to add that Germany sees also a shortage of iPhone 3G models.

Whoever guessed that the 4G iPhone will come in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB models is probably very close to the truth.

My guess is that we'll see pricing (minus contract costs) as:

16 GB -- US$149
32 GB -- US$249
64 GB -- US$349

The 4G iPhone will use iPhone OS 4.0 as standard. We'll see an iTunes upgrade (to version 9.2) to specifically support the new iPhone; the next major version of iTunes (10.0) won't arrive until September when the iPod models get their hardware refresh. It is during that September "refresh" that the iPod Touch gets iPhone OS 4.0 and so will the iPad.

iPhone 3G still some stock in UK.

I was checking and O2 have added the 3G back onto the drop-down menu, however as you can see it says 3G Black is currently not available.

Orange UK and Vodafone UK both seem to have the 3G in stock still as neither has any kind of notice about the stock.

(Sorry the 'Please Note' part is in the wrong place. It was on the O2 UK website.)

O2 UK iPhone 3G

Vodafone UK iPhone 3G

Orange UK website says basically the same as the Vodafone website so I didn't post the link. It's easy enough to find anyway.

:)
