iPhone 3G Unboxing Photos [Updated]

Those are my exact reasons for color choices.

The black plastic looks similar to that used on the Playstation Portable, which has a serious fingerprint problem, but other than that is very sturdy. I almost wish for a textured plastic instead of gloss. Necessary evil, I guess, if I have to have that many antennas in a device.

I'm guessing black although I'm sure you'll see a number of white ones out there. I'm considering white for a couple of reasons:
1) Finger prints - or lack-thereof
2) Scratches aren't nearly as obvious (generally speaking)

Of course I'm going to get a clear shield for the back no matter what - assuming I even get one. I'm still quite annoyed that it's plastic as the anodized Aluminum is virtually indestructible - at least for me. I still don't have a single scratch on the thing and I got it on day 1 (I don't have a case if you're wondering).
 
The fingerprint-laden case is just the topper on a crap plan from AT&T and all the activation BS.

Glad I'm keeping my original iPhone.

With the new, curved backside - I'm wondering how well this thing sits on a table top. And how well it sits when touching the screen (wobble?).

Still waiting to see one in person before jumping from my 1st generation iPhone.

I'm guessing they didn't design one with a plug for European outlets. Guess they are out of luck on that front.

It seems to me that they have included the charger from the original iPhone coupled with a worldwide power adapter for the international iPhones.
 
white just looks cleaner... i'm not worried about dirt since ... my hands are not sticky and dirty... with the glare of the white plastic... some smudges will hide.

That new thing, what is that, an alien probe? I think I may just pass on the second coming until my area actually gets 3G.

I like the silver and black much more than these plastic backed ones. However if I can replace the black buttons on mine with the metal ones... ;)
 
I'd like to think that people here have a little more common sense than to think only one person has handled this iPhone. We're not sure how long that person has had it, how many people have handled it and if they made any attempt to wipe it down after handling it. I think the white vs. black should be based on color preference and now "how something will show up".

Everybody should be using a case or a holster of some sort with this iPhone anyway. If you take care of your iPhone, it'll stay looking fresh and clean.
 
Ok, funny..

He says Internet speed is pretty good.
"Algo que é importante salientar é que a velocidade de internet está realmente boa!"

Then below, he states he can't get it hooked up nor connect it to his PC.
"Mas é chato não poder ligar ao PC. E nem posso usar o meu cartão."

So he's talking about the WiFi speed, not 3G.

Oh and yea definitely Whitey for me.
 
If l've learned anything from the 5G iPod it is that white is the way to go. The black looks greasy and shows too many surface scratches. My first impression was that white would be the way to go. Then I saw the black and thought it looked awesome. However after seeing this iPhone that was probably handled for 5 minutes, I may have to go with white after all. (Plus it matches my MacBook.)
 
I call fake...

It looks like the old USB charger on the left and a UK (or maybe russian?) charger in the middle.

I don't see the desktop dock in there.

Case mods??

A case mode for the new iPhone 3G's that'll make them appear as if they're the original iPhone would be awesome for me. The plastic just looks horrible.

Does anyone know if a company is working on a mod to replace the backing to make it look like the original? I'd pay to get that done.
 
For all those worried about the smudges on the back: The smudges on the FRONT are what will drive you nuts! Whether you choose black or white, you'll be constantly wiping the smudges, fingerprints and ear-goo off the face of your iPhone every few minutes. Annoying? Yes, but that's just part of the iPhone experience. If you are that concerned about smudges on the back, then perhaps the iPhone isn't for you.
