They are no longer including the dock with the 3G model. You'll have to buy it separately. From Apple's website:

In the box

Stereo Headset with mic
Dock Connector to USB Cable
USB Power Adapter
Documentation
Cleaning/polishing cloth
SIM eject tool​

Just the cable...no more dock...

I was just going to say the same thing. That's a brand new phone....it's probably BARELY been touched and it looks custy...i wipe my glass front off pretty regularly because of the fingerprints that get on that...but I rarely have to clean the back and it always looks clean. 1st Gen iPhone FTW!

It's been a known fact that no dock would be included for almost a month now. The package contents have been listed on the product page since it was announced(which is where news of the mysterious "SIM ejector" came from). ATT is just clueless. It's really too bad that it doesn't come with one but there isn't anything we can do about it.

Yeah, that's exactly what it looks like, a Euro adaptor along with the one they've been advertising.
 
The fingerprints should not affect your decision of what color to buy. Are you going to hold your iPhone with gloves or something?

The fingerprints are on the BACK of the iPhone. Who cares if you have fingerprints on the BACK. No one cares. Keep your hands clean and you will be fine.

The white looks too feminine. (edit: I've never owned a white iPod, MacBook or iMac)

I have a black iPod and a MBP. I do have an airport extreme that's white, but it's hidden away in my office.
 
maybe he purposefully schlocked it up with finger prints (he had butterfingers before hand and used this as a napkin) so that apple stock would take a hit!

FAKE!!! The real iphone 3g would never have any flaws, ever.

Yeah, looks like fingerprints love the iPhone 3G, as expected. However, it could be that they come off in your pocket the same way they come off the screen. After a couple minutes in my pocket, after all, all fingerprints on my iPhone screen get rubbed off.

And even if not, a plastic back helps improve call quality, that's worth the extra fingerprints for me!

The fingerprints will also be on the front of the phone...

I wasn't going to go with the white only because I feel like it screams, "steal me. I'm expensive" But I also feel like, if you are upgrading to the 16gb, you just have to go white to differentiate yourself from the iPhone v1 users, and the 8gb model. hmm, I am still trying to decide..

Why all the crying about fingerprints? You do know that this device is supposed to be touched by your fingers right?
 
I hope someone posts a pic of a white iphone. I want to see what those look like. :) I'm leaning towards white after seeing the black..

Of course I have a 4G iphone, so black or white would be a huge hard drive update for me. ;)
 
Any smooth object photographed close-up with a flash after much human handling will show harmless fingerprints. What's amusing, though, is the alarm that such fingerprints cause on the BACK... when it's a touch device that will obviously always get fingerprints on the part you actually LOOK at... the front :eek:

Fingers make temporary prints on objects. It's a part of life here on Earth that I have come to accept.

I like the white because I think white and chrome look nice together--but it's black for me. I like the simplicity of the back matching the front.

And NO CASE for me this time. I'd rather have scratches than a bulkier phone, I've decided.

But realize those are just empty shells, maybe made for case designers, without the chrome buttons.
 
UK stores have got their 3G iPhones in, the Carphone Warehouse here in Northern Ireland have their demo units in. Apparently they're very nice (coming from someone who owns the first-gen iPhone). Strangely they've been told that the white iPhone 3G won't be available for launch day, but the O2 store I phoned said they would have them...
 
I think I'm leaning a little towards white now. Not because of the fingerprints. I just think the white is different ... most cell phones are black. Not too many are white. But really it doesn't matter because I'm getting a case so you probably won't even see the back, depending on the type of case I get.

Decisions, decisions....
 
Do we at least get the plastic dock adapter? I'd be pissed if I spent $40 on a universal dock last month and have to buy an additional set of inserts.

Come on Apple...
 
Too bad the new phone requires that big white cord.
