iPhone. She said he got the Bold 9700 while waiting, and is getting an iPhone as soon as he can. He did also have a Droid, and while he liked it, he likes the iPhone better.

At least, that is how I interpreted it. :D

Exactly. lol. Trying to say too much at one time. He sold his droid a few days ago, to make up for the money we spent on new att phones. He currently has the Bold, until his iphone comes in.

I'm 19, have an iPhone, however I've just ordered an iPod Touch and the blackberry bold 9700.

The iPhone is amazing, but most of it can be replicated using an iPod Touch, and the Blackberry just seems more of a communications device. I wouldn't say don't ever get an iPhone, just for some people the fun of it wears off after a while.

Most of it can be replicate by the iPod touch - well that depends on how often you are near wifi. Since you're 19, maybe you're on a college campus blanketed in wifi? For those of us who are not near wifi all the time, the iPod touch loses a lot of its luster. Many of my favorite apps are network-dependant.

Also, the one inherent advantage you're losing is the simplicity of one device. That's huge for me. I hate carrying extra stuff. The whole reason I originally got an iPhone the 2G) was so I could stop carrying an iPod and a phone. (though now of course I use it for so much more)

was there something wrong with the phone part of your iphone foir you to switch? Why would you buy an itouch when you have everything it has in the iphone? Wish i had all this money to through around like you kids do.

Seems life is so tough for these youngsters that all they have time to do is complain about smartphones.

Send them some paypal money. That's really the only way to get some credit to the store.

Men my pants are saying what if a boy 16 age old could not choose whats tes best iphone or blackbery ?
So me a young boy 10 years old i say for you one thing blackberry doesnt have a good smell it stinks and it look green sometime !
i bought the iphone for three reasons
1 its more expansive
2 mac os is better then microsoft and its the great apple company who fabrique it
3 its much more easier when you use your fingers
+ ( did you know that now arround the world everysecond there is three iphones or ipods bough per second )
- Oh yeah im an einstain of 10 years old !!!! :p

I had the iPhone for a year, I loved it for a month and then it got old. I don't want a PSP that can make calls.

It's not good when I walk down the street and see 12 year olds with the same phone as me.

The apps on the iPhone were pretty good, until all that started showing up was games. It's fine to have tetris as a game, but I don't need Call of Duty and Assassin's creed on my phone.

I jumped ship to the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 a few weeks ago and loved it.
BBM is amazing and thats all I really wanted on the iPhone, was something like BBM.

Sure, there are some apps like WhatsApp for iPhone-to-iPhone messaging, but people never use it.

Once I got the 9700, I realized that I didn't need all of these pointless apps.

I have real push email that doesn't drain the battery. I can leave location services on, bluetooth, and WiFi on all day and still not lose my battery. Don't even try to tell me the iPhone can do that.

I have multi-tasking. While I'm composing an email, I can jump over to facebook and update my status and then come back where I left off on the email.

A real keyboard, I can't tell you how much I needed this.

RIM brought out group BBM as well. Plus flash for my camera. No more sliding my finger every which way.

The list goes on and on. I am very glad I switched over to BlackBerry.

all personal preference, i for one will NEVER use a blackberry, i hate them, its my personal opinion though, ive used both and the iphone is the clear winner FOR ME

I have both the iPhone 3GS and BlackBerry Bold 9700.

Guess which is going up for sale.
Yes the BlackBerry.

The only good things about the BlackBerry are:
- BlackBerry Messenger
- Push Mail (not HTML)
- Notification light

The BlackBerry doesn't have proper HTML email support and a bad browser.

The iPhone mail app supports full HTML email and Safari Blows the BB browser away.
And the biggest reason: Apps. The BlackBerry doesn't have any of the apps i use on the iPhone.

Actually BlackBerry does support HTML formatted emails. You just need to be running the correct version of everything.

I can't argue with anything else you said

I know it supports HTML. but it doesn't display HTML properly sometimes.
I receive email on both and it always shows the mails in proper HTML on the iPhone.

Strange, I have never had my BB not be able to correctly display an HTML formatted email

All of these reasons are the exact same ones I thought about when I changed from iPhone to BlackBerry.

I have both the Bold2 and the iPhone. I love the Bold but stay with the iPhone because of the web and larger screen. Plus the apps are great. I know you text alot but take the time to get used to the touch screen, in the long run you will be better off with the iPhone. IMHO

There is a device out there for everyone, and everyone will defend or bash what is not for them it is just the way life is.

If you have a bad experience with something you are likely never to buy it again, then again some ppl all they want to do is complain, they are never happy with what they have and never will be.

I have had them all, I have a Bold 9000 for work not a BB user but it does what I need it to and I do not pay for it. Then I have my iPhone which I would not trade for any phone out there or any other carrier because I have great service from AT&T where I live, and I have had very bad experiences with Verizon's Customer service.

I barely get 8 hours of combined Internet, Email and SMS, Phone call usage on my iPhone, but then again when I txt heavy or access and type up emails on my Bold I get the same battery life and both phones are new, so in my opinion you will get the same approximate usage out of a 1400mah battery across the board, however you can not compare a 1400mah to a 900mah they will react very different, it all depends on how strong your signal is in your area, and what you are doing thru the course of the day.

I see some ppl here are upset when they get less usage from a Smartphone then a regular phone, well look at what the smartphone does, so then it will require more juice.

Just my $.02 into the whole thing.

I recently lost my iPhone on the damn bus and was rejected a new one by the insurance company because i didn't report it to the police within 24 hours.

I was thinking about getting a 3GS but then decided on a Blackberry Bold 9700. Haven't got it yet but I've noticed BBM is very popular in the UK and I just was getting bored with the iPhone. I love the iPhone - the iPhone is the reason I bought a Mac.

When I first got it I was app crazy, but as time went on I was only using the Weather, Facebook, Mail, SMS, Myspace, and the Telegraph.co.uk application.

I have friends in other countries with Blackberrys and my Dad also who lives abroad..and I want to try something new also - I know exactly what to expect with an iPhone.

And I really like the professional look of Blackberrys..I'm excited to get one and if the battery life is longer thats good :)

I tried using a BB Bold but it just doesn't compare, especially after I jailbroke my iPhone to enable multitasking. The physical keyboard is fine, but I can type faster on the iPhone.

anybody switch back to the 3gs from a 9700?

edit.
sorry to revive a dead thread, just wanted to see where everyone is standing a month later.
i have a 3gs and a 9700 too (both personal phones). I switch off whenever i get bored, but i find myself TRYING to love the iphone. I dont browse or use apps or play music so those dont really matter, the reason i keep coming back to the iphone is the threaded sms, which is still better then the 9700 (the ichat style is amazing, plus the big screen comes in handy here) and the oleophobic screen (never stops amazing me).
problem is, the 3gs battery is some garbage, and it seems to have trouble holding on to weak signal.
oh i guess you could also say the cliche "everybody has the phone and its played out. dont want to have a phone everyone else has" but honestly, thats an extremely stupid reason.

what a crapstorm.

if you've got more than one active exchange account, iphone is not your friend. that means, if you're getting your gmail's pushed, you won't be getting anything else pushed (with the exception of mobileme = $99/year). blackberry allows 10!

say you've got multiple e-mail accounts on the iphone. checking every single one would require you to go back to accounts view, enter, read, back to list, back to accounts view.. and onto the next account. repeat! blackberry has all your messages in ONE folder called "MESSAGES" and they're color coded/displayed according to mailbox and REPLIED according to mailbox. this is a very important feature to have when you're having 2 jobs!

memory cards. stupid argument to be honest, 32GB is more than enough for anyone. but yes, blackberry's is hot-swappable. pull it out, give it to a friend, let them copy it, put yours back in. simple.

apps. the iphone/ipod app store has a lot of apps, but not many you'd want to own. the blackberry app store does not have a lot of apps (relatively), but most of them are quite good. if you're an average user, you'll find the apps you want available on both platforms.

battery life on blackberry 9700 is 21 days standby. that's quite impressive. charges with micro USB, and chances are, you've got an office load full of people with these cables to provide you a quick charge when you're flat.

real life examples people.
stop the crapstorm.
