So how is that helpful to the OP? If you'd just said, "I have a bb and I think it's great for the following reasons..." that would be helpful. But purporting to be able to give advice on the relative merits of a device you don't own is not helpful.

I tried the Bold 9700 for a while, and it's an awesome BlackBerry. But I went back to the iPhone, so take that for what it's worth.

That was my impression when I played with it for a while. If you like bb, the bold 9700 is one of (or the) best. But it's fundamentally much like every other bb - for good and bad.

Get a BlackBerry. I can go on all day as to why the BlackBerry is superior to the iPhone. I wrote up a few comparison articles, take a look.

LOL. You fail.

Let's see...

- Multiple carriers - iPhone YES, BlackBerry Yes. Fail

- Memory? Seriously? So you say it's expandable up to 32GB, and the iPhone comes STOCK in either 16GB or 32GB... none of this buying memory crap. Again, fail.

- To sync email, contacts and calendar you don't need to pay $99/year. Again, fail.

Now, let's look at what the iPhone has over the Blackberry.

- A real internet browser
- An AppStore with APPS IN IT.
- Ease of use (i'm sorry, but if anyone argues with me about this then they are high. When I had a Blackberry and would hand it off to some friends they would act like they are retarded and not know what to do).
- REAL threaded SMS :) (based on your review and ignorance, you probably don't even know what that is)

It's early in the morning and I can keep this list going but I'm sick so I'm gonna stop here.

If you even had a CLUE about what you were talking about, then you would've said multitasking at least lol.

Anyways gtfo with your crap.

--------

edit: just took a look at your second link...

May I ask why you compare do a comparison of: iPhone (phone) vs RAZR (phone) vs Bold (phone) vs Windows Moble (OS) vs Android (OS). You see what I did there? You are COMPARING phones to operating systems.

this is too funny I just keep laughing.

Lets see...

The iPhone is available on Verizon? Because BlackBerry devices are.

The fact that I can interchange a 32GB memory card with music, video, pictures, or whatever on the run already makes it better.

MobileMe is $99 a year.

Now, lets look at what the BlackBerry has over the iPhone
Open development, no approval process necessary.
An app store that doesn't have duplicate applications in it.
An app store without "idiot test" as the #1 selling paid app.
By the way, the BlackBerry has "real threaded SMS" you just have to know where to look.

It's 1 in the afternoon and I can keep this list going but I'm watching TV so I'm gonna stop here.

If you even had a CLUE what you were talking about, you would have saved yourself the trouble of writing that post. Oh yeah and BlackBerries can multitask

Anyways gtfo with your crap.

edit: At the time of that post, the G1 was the only Android device out. I guess I could have said G1 instead of Android. As for the Windows Mobile devices, all the phones that run that OS more than likely support all the features listed.

First of all, the thread title has bold 9700... if you were smart you would realize the 9700 is a GSM phone and does not work on Verizon. holy **** are you ever stupid. The 9000 or 9700 (both not support by Verizon) are the only comparable blackberry's to the iPhone... you know what that means? Your carrier argument is flawed.

iPhone - AT&T, Rogers, Fido, Bell, Telus... want me to continue? The US isn't the world buddy... the iPhone is supported in more than 1 country.

Are you honestly that stupid? YOU DON'T NEED MOBILE ME TO SYNC THE DAMN PHONE WITH EMAIL, CONTACTS AND CALENDAR.

The fact that I can interchange a 32GB memory card with music, video, pictures, or whatever on the run already makes it better.

Huh? And wtf do you think I fill my iPhone up with?

By the way, the BlackBerry has "real threaded SMS" you just have to know where to look.

Actually, no it doesn't. It's still in development by RIM, and if you start talking about hacking the phone well then talk about jailbreaking the iPhone.

You are a troll. You created an account to bash the iPhone on an iPhone forum and your ignorance just made you look even dumber. I'm gonna stop replying to your crap and let others (if they want) back me up. The blackberry is a great device, but your comparison was way too biased and you have no idea what you're talking about.

seems to me that someone was just shut down like circuit city!
But to the point of the syncing argument, acfusion is right. You dont need mobileme to have sync features. You can use google sync to have contacts, email, calendars all in sync, which is a free service.

In regards to the 32GB card, I was saying I could change them out on the go. You're limited to 32GB. I, on the other hand, am able to keep multiple 32GB chips with me and swap them out while away from my computer. This greatly increases the storage capacity of a BlackBerry compared to an iPhone.

In regards to MobileMe Apple says "With a MobileMe subscription, your email, calendar, and contacts stay up to date on your iPhone and your computer"
With a BlackBerry, there is no such need for an added service to achieve such an effect.

Question, because I don't know the answer to this. Can you take an iPhone that you bought here in the United States, bring it to another country, and get a SIM card from a local carrier and use it in your iPhone? I haven't looked into that.

Finally, no, I didn't "hack" my phone. OS 5.0 and the new BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 can tie into SMS and you can use BlackBerry Messenger to send SMS messages, so it will all be threaded.

Woah Woah Woah, lets chill here guys they are just phones, no need to have an epic fight.

The Bold 9700 runs the new 5.0 OS which does have threaded sms, so that point is not really valid. I really dont give a crap about having music on my phone or what have you because, I have my iPod and no iPhone or MicroSD card is going to be able to carry my music library, so that doesnt really concern me either.

I have actually decided that I am going to get the Bold 9700 because I have decided that I can't stand the iPhone's keyboard (my friend and I traded phones for a week), and I really have no need for all the apps that really make the iPhone the iPhone.

On that note can a Mod please close this thread so that a third world war isn't started.

Yes, you can bring the iPhone to any country, the phone just has to be unlocked, as does a Blackberry.

I don't think you understand what threaded SMS is... it's like displaying your text messages how BBM displays them. One after the other.

With the current SMS system, it's almost threaded, but not quite because if someone sends you two text messages one after the other, the 2nd message starts a new conversation.

It's hard to explain, but it's one of the wanted features in Blackberry's.

No it doesn't. It's still in the works (beta).

http://crackberry.com/images-native-threaded-sms-client-blackberry

The way the Blackberry handles SMS is like this (from bottom to top):

Me: ya
You: you going to a party tonight? (as soon as this 2nd text message is sent, then a new 'thread' is created... meaning if you want to go back 100 text messages then you have to go through every conversation or thread to find what you're looking for)

You: not much
Me: NM you?
You: hey sup?
Me: hey

Threaded SMS works like this:

me: hey
you: hey
me: what are you doing?
you: nothing
me: true
me: you wanna chill?
you: sure, where?
me: lemme call you

Threaded SMS is standard and live on the 9700. If you'd like, I can post a screenshot.

Ok well then Threaded SMS is coming, but it really doesnt bother me that much, because to beat the system all you have to do is reply to a text that you got from that person you got before rather than create a new one, and the problem is solved threaded sms just like that.

True. I like the screen on the 9700, for me it is just on the small side.

Agreed. I tested this out at the at&t store the other day.

K I'll take your guys word for it. Sorry, I wanted the 9700 but have been too busy to even look into it, and I was holding back cause of threaded SMS.

Good choice. Given that this thread has lost complete sight of what you, the op required as primary use of the phone calls and SMS - over 3thousand per month (how on earth do you bang out that many I'll never understand).

My first and only question before my suggestion would be for you to goto Options> auto text. And see how many abbreviations for input sentences you use would be there. If your answer was yes then your choice is easily made. If the answer was no then I'd guide you to using this function unique to the BB and see how it heps you thousands of txts.

Please...

Here's a screenshot of threaded SMS on my Bold 9000.

What part of BlackBerries can do threaded SMS was too hard to grasp?

Also, keep in mind the 2 links you posted are almost 4 months old.

Haha no I dont use autotext, I tried it and just never really liked it. I just text alot of people I guess, I dont even think about how much I text until I look at the billing cycle and thank my lucky stars for unlimited text.

The BlackBerry browser isn't as bad as people say. While I agree it is pretty bad as far as processing javascript as a reasonable rate, it still gets the job done as well as has features that the iPhone browser does not. (and vice versa)

And finally, the best feature IMO, user agent spoofing.

The user agent spoofing is nice for sites that think they're doing you a favor by forcing you to view the mobile version of their site.

I never really understood why people knocked the browser on the blackberry for what you need in mobile browsing its perfect. I know I never really do much browsing on any phone, iPhone or not, anything past needing a quick search or something to that matter, mobile browsers are fail equally. The iPhone just has a pretty way of doing it.

"for what i need in food, a dog turd is perfect"

yeah, if you like eating dog turds

Ok so what do you do on your iPhone's browser other than what I mentioned. Certainly nothing with flash, because you can't on an iPhone or for that matter any other device (but not for long flash is coming for us non-Apple phone folk).

I use it to surf the internet. And the user experience when browsing the internet on an iPhone is, in every measurable sense, vastly superior to that of any Blackberry. Flash plugin or not.
