im sure im going to get a reply about how its "more complicated than that" but

the end numbers of "...029" dont match with any in that diagram.

If you would compare the architecture of both, while slightly different and with slightly different numbers, I think you can reasonably ASSUME that the HSUPA chipset in the 3G/3GS is similar to what we're seeing here. A CDMA set would require something additional and is not shown, just the Skyworks GSM chipset.

well what do you suppose the whole "keeping the FCC records on lock" thing is about?

But what the heck is the mysterious Triquint TQM676091 chip for? A custom chip made for Apple? And, if so, what's so secretive about it (or other chips) that caused Apple to ask the FCC to withhold disclosure for 45 days?

Oooo. They have changed the listing. Now just reads

Skyworks SKY77541 GSM/GRPS Front End Module

Clearly they finally spotted their error (or just got around to replacing a misleading placeholder).

I mentioned Skyworks before about the GSM and WCDMA and it wasn't a big deal before. But now it is?! Triquint is really small compared to Skyworks or Qualcomm or RFMD. It's not surprising there are multiple WCDMA aka 3G chips since it has to cover multiple bands. Skyworks was responsible for the previous iPhones and the iPad I believe. As far as making a CDMA phone there has to be a redesign. But there are hybrids being made that are GSM/WCDMA in one solution being designed.

I jumped on the conspiracy theory bandwagon too --

... but, I'm just not seeing CDMA architecture here... just GSM and HSUPA.

lol they're updating it as we speak...

it will happen, people. just not tomorrow.
;)
