3G (UMTS) is based on W-CDMA. While that particular part that iFixit released might be from the EVO, the iPhone 4 (and the 3G and 3GS) would have W-CDMA parts.

Guys... I got it.... The perfect conspiracy theory...

On a related note, DigiTimes notes that ASUS spin-off Pegatron has allegedly been picked up as an OEM for the N89 (or whatever the new iPhone's internal code happens to be) -- but it won't be alone. The indication seems to be that Foxconn will continue churning out phones for Cupertino, too, perhaps a sign that these guys are expecting the need for more capacity than the old OEM alone can deliver, or that there could be multiple generations in the retail channel (a la 3G / 3GS) at the same time.

It seems Pegatron Technology has received CDMA iPhone orders, with iPhones supporting the standard set to ship in the fourth quarter -- just in time for Apple’s annual iPod event....

Noting the new rumor, we do observe that Pegatron is set to float on the Taiwan Stock Exchange on June 24.

Apple release an iPhone compatible with Verizon, keeps it secret. The on June 24th, when they KNOW everyone is going to tear it to bits announces that Pegatron will manufacture partner to keep up with the demand expected from Apple going with Verizon, the same day Pegatron goes public....

i just **** my pants a little

i think it would be in apples best interest to make them both the same...

No... The white iPhone is Verizon only! .....

Think about it, has anyone seen apple demonstrate a white iPhone?

"Pegatron will also start shipping a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 in the fourth quarter. Moreover, Pegatron is "currently using its plants in Shanghai, China to produce the product."

Think about it... Pegatron produces white iPhones, no one can pre-order them, no one has seen one, why. It's a Verizon phone.

Edit: I know they are shown at WWDC, but this would explain why no one can pre-order them, why Best-Buy canceled their pre-orders.

Gorilla glass and 512mb .. something good at last

Yes!! I was really mad and scared that iphone 4 did not upgrade to 64gb giving the idea that they only changed the design and battery. Now with gorilla glass and 512mb, I wont feel wasting money just on the beautiful design.

Incorrect CDMA List

Hey folks,

My apologies on the incorrect information that was on the teardown for a little while. We're in a rush to ID a lot of components, and one of our engineers accidentally added some EVO part numbers to an internal document we were referencing. Then another engineer, not realizing it was incorrect data, posted them to step 16 of the teardown without double-checking it. The information has been corrected.

I know you guys put a lot of trust in us on these things, and we do our best. Thank you for your understanding. This is a collaborative, in-the-moment effort. Your comments are extremely useful, and we incorporate error checking from all of you as we do our analysis. Please don't leave comments on the teardown or ping us on twitter if you see any more errors.
