leave it in the car

sand has a lot of minerals that can easily scractch the glass, it can get into pretty much any crevice, and most beaches don't have good cell phone reception.

If you really need to check your phone, go to your car and check if anyone has called you every 3-4 hours, but really there is no benefit of having your phone on you at the beach.

I left mine at the hotel safely in it's dock on my trip to Cape May.

Lol, I'm not on a trip. It's just a day at the beach with a large group of friends, no hotel just our cars.

People who said to leave it in the car: heck no. My phone has already had the too hot temperature warning once

For God's sake you guys are anal. I bet you are real fun at parties!

It's a phone! Enjoy it! If it gets minor wear and tear big deal. A new one is coming out in about 10 months. ;)

I just came back from Atlantic City. Took my iPhone everywhere. Even lasted till 6am most mornings when I could still be found drunk and at the tables.

EXACTLY.

I baby my phone for about a week or so when I get it, but after I'm just careful. It is JUST A PHONE. Keeping your iPhone perfectly clean helps to sell it later but you won't enjoy it as much.

lololol

so with an iphone you cant just spontaneously go anywhere without military style planning and procuring protective gear ahead :D
please just put the damn thing in your pocket and dont use it as a freezbie and i am sure it will be fine, you guys really do go overboard!

not sure how much time you have before you go, but even with the ziplock bag, i'd still recommend a front and back screen protector. any one would do. there are those free Stealth Guards (well, you pay $3 for shipping) that would work fine, if you have a few weeks for shipping. otherwise pick some up locally.

I don't bring my phone on the beach with me. I'll just leave it in the car and check it periodically.

I agree with Dexter.

Why would I buy something that I can't use anywhere that I want (within reason of course.... I'm not talking about in the shower or underwater)?

Besides, I like to take photos while I'm at the beach and email them instantly to my friends to make them jealous.;)

Are we really at the point where we can't even go to the beach without our phones?

I would say leave it in the car or at home if you are so worried. Try relaxing for once and enjoying the nice day. Facebook can know about your "Awesome beach day with the girlies" later.

Sorry... but does it really matter!?

It matters a little.

It's just proper form and forum behavior to not do it. This forum would be rather annoying (I mean, more annoying than it already is;)) if people posted 2-3-4 times in a row every time they had something to add, instead of editing and adding. The mods go through the forums and clean them up by merging consecutive posts, so it makes more needless work for them. If everyone just made consecutive posts, the forums may become unreadable- it would cause way more unnecessary scrolling, and create more pages in threads.

Exactly! That's what I mean. I'm sick of the "I just got a scratch how about you?" type threads. The high level of OCD around these parts is really scary. Well and to be honest kind of amusing.

Fair enough... I wouldn't usually do it in fairness...

I've edited the first post but how do I delete the second?

You can't delete posts. Imagine how confusing this forum would be if members were able to do that.

You can click the
report.gif
button in the post you want to delete, and tell a mod to delete it for you.

Ok thanks... done :D

No probs..... thanks for being receptive.:)

Now to get this thread back on track: I'm going out for dinner tonight and I wanted to order the soup. Do you think it would be safe to bring my iPhone? I wouldn't want to get it wet.

Dont even worry about it . You can use the dinner rolls to soak up any water damage that may occur.
