...... Finally gave up on the Apple site. Placed order on the ATT site. Not like Apple to have this serious of an issue on launch day. I understand things happen, but one would think they would have been well prepared with contingencies in place. Oh well... Sh*t happens. Lol. After all, it's only a smart phone.

**** update: Looks like Apple is fixing the issue. Just got a " We'll be back soon - updating the store" message when trying to check out ---- was still trying to order through apple....
 
Got all the way to the Add cart page, once clicked, it takes me to the "We'll be back soon" page. Maybe they are updating their servers to be able to handle the load better.
 
Piece of CRAP!! I have been trying to order on both sites since 2 in the morning.. (2 hours) and all these people getting theirs it seems but me. this is ridiculous. I think its time to give up and try later.. DANG

Yeah, that's what they want, I think. I will do the same, get a few hours of sleep. Good luck!
 
This is really embarrassing for apple. They know people are going to do this - they needed to be prepared. I am not even sure if my order went through and it's so close to when the phones open that I may as well wait up which means I stayed up all night to buy a freakin phone. That makes ME the idiot.
 
I'm telling you Premier folks, again, I've gotten through (2 or 3 times after over 100 queries) and each time it says something like "Your order cannot be completed online, please reserve an iPhone at your nearest Apple Store so a specialist can help with your order." Once I got to that process, my Apple ID and reservation worked fine (and the Apple Store holds your iPhone reservation until the end of the business day so you don't have to go at 7 am).

I would advise AT&T Premier customers against pre-ordering through Premier's pre-order site. My customer service with the Premier handset dept. has been terrible, with awful delivery times and additional fees (my primary line shows as upgrade fee waived on the Apple Store and AT&T personal site, yet on Premier they tried to charge me). Also, Premier is quoting 3 to 5 business days via FedEx Overnight (which is a little contradictory).

Bottom line, if you're close to an Apple Store, Premier guys, reserve one in store. Otherwise, call Apple directly later this morning when their 800 line opens. And sorry for saying Premier 1,000,000 times, it's just hard otherwise to distinguish between AT&T's departments otherwise.
 
That oops appeared to me about 50 times, no lies. But once i had the chance to choose between reserve or ship (after 15 tries) i decided to take what i thought would be the safest bet; the reservation. Now i am just wondering what time i should get there, after reading on my e-mail confirmation that a pre-authorization does not assure me of an iPhone at the retail store, first come first served.

I've been able to continually get to the ship or pick up page then get the oops!...

and now that you pointed out the first come first served...... I'm gunna keep trying to have it shipped
 
Look at the price in France - LOL almost 1000usd for the 32g without carrier contract...

The US server is jammed...
I hope Apple booked some iPhone for the EU market otherwise we will have to wait for months before getting one..in most of EU countries the Iphone 4 is not yet available to pre-order...

For all you getting a phone already congrats. The rest of us who have been going at this since 3am CDT really appreciate it.

I, like yourself, had been trying since 4AM EST. Two hours earlier and finally got what i wanted. I hope all you get it soon because we all know we had been trying, tomorrow will be chaos.
 
crap! i got an email from AT&T saying my info could not be verified and my order has been cancelled!! @#%

Just got off phone with ATT business care. They said their servers are jammed with pre-orders.

They told me to try back at 8AM eastern time.

So right now they are overloaded.

I had 3 eligible lines. The 2nd order (which I shipped to my brother in Maryland went through).

But my 1st and 3rd orders (shipped to Florida) have been rejected 2 times. So I received a confirmation email and than 2 minutes later got the cancellation email.

All my 3 lines are on my account.

Not sure how my brother's order got through since it was the 2nd order. Lucky guy, plus he owes me $300 plus taxes!!....J/K we are only a year apart and he orders a lot of stuff for me. I have him on my ATT line (for the iPhone) and he has me on his Tmobile line (for my blackberry so I can have UMA/international roaming).

Hey all,

Managed to look at preorders this morning, been debating the pre-order in UK due to price (£499/£599), but now the store appears to have been taken offline "back soon". I had the "oops" message earlier as well. Have pre-orders really crashed out Apple's sites in the countries selling the iphone??
 
did anyone else get a order canceled email from AT&T?

Yea, I did. I placed the same upgrade order 3 times and each time within 3 minutes got a canceled email. UGH!!! I'm simply going through THEIR upgrade process for my phones that are up for upgrades. My two phones. Pretty simple, I'd think. Apparently not.

"Thank you for choosing AT&T.

Unfortunately, we were either unable to verify the information you provided or you have exceeded the number of lines of service that we allow customers to purchase online. As a result, your order has been canceled. "

EDIT: I just tried to upgrade a fourth time and it seems ATT is wising up. lol They took all Apple iPhones off their options for upgrading your phone. Screw this. I'll just do it in the morning. So what if I have to wait a couple more days. I need sleep! Ha!

yea... tomorrow is going to be a madhouse if you think it's bad right now... that's the only thing keeping me up at this hour... you thought EDGE was slow... try the Apple site tomorrow morning!
 
After 2 hours

After two hours of trying apple I went to Att got right in was able to reserve 32g and keep my old data plan 3 minutes total F234K apple
 
I've been on here since midnight,att was down for maintenance and on apple i kept getting processing or timing out,finally i got all the way through to the cart and i click add to cart then i get oops error has occurred,i got that like 10 times! finally i checked again on att and joy joy! it was up! logged in hit upgrade even though i only qualified for the higher discounted upgrade of $399 for the 16gb,oh well it's better than $599! Anyways i was checked out in less than 3 minutes,by now i am tired and exhausted but i got my iphone 4 ordered it's suppose to be here on the 24th,i sold my daughters 3g to help pay for it,but she's getting my white 16gb 3gs which is in immaculate condition so she's happy.It' been a long night.Good luck to everyone pre-ordering,definately go for att.com you will get ordered much quicker:D
 
finally got it! 2 hours later and resorting to ATT's site. After I closed my browser went back to ATT's site the iPhone 4 was an option for me to upgrade to after it not being there for 2 hours. For those of you still having problems with ATT, try closing the browser completely?
 
Why doesn't the iPhone 4 show up on the AT&T website??? Is it all pre-ordered out or something? Ughhhhh! This is such a pain...you'd think they get it right after 4 years of this iPhone selling business!

I'm tempted to preorder from AT&T, but there are two reasons I won't: a) AT&T has been notorious for not shipping the new iphone on day one like apple, b) a lot of people are getting emails from AT&T saying that their order is canceled.
