I’m glad you’re responding to these guys. I’ve lost my patience.
I got my iP4 cause my 3G was dying right about 5pm.
Were talking, charging from 12am to 6am. Work from 7 to 4 barely using phone avg 50 texts. No WiFi and no web use.
So I get this new phone and Im getting same sometimes worse results.
Id get one call and sometime around 3pm my phone is almost dead?
With the update it got better, however it just added an extra 2 hours.
My phone at reg use would never make it to 7pm.
This issue plus the worse texting ever system makes this recent purchase bad for me :(

i got my Iphone 4 in august. I used it for a month and then decided to jailbreak at 4.0.1. After another month and a half i started to notice that if i texted like 5 minutes straight i would drop 1%. I then started to look into it and relized i was loosing battery a lot faster then when i first got it. I un jailbroke it and still no improvements. I restored from BACKUP and still saw now improvements so i rejailbroke and still have the same issue. Would restoring as new phone help?

Stats:i charged over night until 8:00
1 hour usage, minor just clicking out of lock screen to check for text and responding sometimes. Checked facebook 1 time.
9 hours standby.
location off
push off

already 91%. barely used it at all?

I've tried every suggestion reccomended on these forums to increase battery life on the iP4...since the latest update battery life has been less than optimal...but I have found the reason! friggin wifi eats battery like a fat kid eats cake...apparently the wifi remains connected even when the phone is asleep...I had 15 hours of standby with wifi off as opposed to 10 with it on...today is the second day of my experiment and currently I've been unplugged since 6 am central time and I am still at 90% at 12 noon...

After testing for a few more days I have found that EVERY time I charge my iPhone 4 overnight and take it off the charger the In Use and Standby times will perfectly track each other unless I power off/on the phone, after which it acts normally. This makes a HUGE difference in my battery life, which is never great even at its best. Even if I take it off the charger with nothing running (double tap the home key shows nothing) it will do this. What is causing this? Has anybody else experienced this issue?

You have 1 hour of usage and 9 hours of standby with only using 9% of the battery. How can you not be happy with that? It seems that people are expecting to much out of a phone. Your battery life seems fine to me and better than many other smart phones.

I recently have kept wifi and 3G off and noticed significant increase in battery life. Only turn them on when I need them.

Well its not good when some are getting like 11hours of usage and stuff..

I decided im gonna give this iphone a bit longer and then call Apple and just complain about battery life and swap it out for a new/refurbished one.. Did it with my 3G right before the 1 year warranty was up

For the longest time I was really paranoid about my battery, always thinking it wasn't working properly. But recently I started shutting off my wifi when I'm at work since there's never a connection here anyway. That seems to have made a difference because now I can usually get 4 or so hours of usage and around 30 hours of standby on half a battery (some texting, checking mail, gaming and wifi internet browsing during my commute). At my best I've run the full battery down and been at over 8 hours of usage and around 75 hours standby

Batt life has been ok for me

My recent 2-day-ish stat.

3G/Data On
Wi-Fi always on with no ask to join (rarely use 3G data)
BT off
Notifications Off (Never been reliable for me)
Screen at 40% brightness with auto brightness off
Hourly email fetching for 3 accounts (don't get much mail though)
Push contacts/calendar
Location On

Calls here and there incl skype, about 50-70 texts, Facebook and Twitter apps plus light Safari, Maps and iPod use (varying bit rates/formats). Mostly light usage. Not bad...certainly better than my 3GS.

Batt died as soon as i took this screenshot.

You'll have a hard time replacing that as that is perfectly normal battery life. Apple was even hesitant to repace mine. I had 1hr 45min with 45% remaining left. No data no games light browsing

I had JUST my battery replaced over the past weekend by Apple. First one done in the Florida Mall Apple Store and now my battery life is great. :apple:

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; pt-br) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

My last Battery test made To 7.5 h usage and 3days 3 hours standby, no iPod , wifi always on , some gaminf and little 3G. I'm quite happy.

Meh, Im not too worried.

Ill get the iphone swapped either way. If they told me that thats normal i would of flipped at them. How is 1:45h normal with less than 50% left to go..

Bat life for me on 4 has far exceeded my 3GS.

I keep mines on full brightness(with auto on), browse a lot, and have my GMAIL(exchange) & MobileMe pushed along with messenger app running in background, and maybe a game or two for half hour. I probably talk on phone about 30-40min daily. I would say from 6am to 6:30pm my batt is normally around fourty something percent left. That's pretty good IMO. When I had the 3GS it would be around 15%.

iphone 4, im jailbroken on 4.1 with ultrasn0w unlock and i heard for the poor battery is the mobilesubstrate sighhsss whyyyyyy cydia!!! i just want my legit good quality battery back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm happy with mine - battery life has improved over the week I've had it.

Currently on 38% with 3h 16m of usage and 1d 4hrs of standby. That's a non-JB IP4 with wifi and 3G on (bluetooth off) push gmail calendar and a couple of hours of viewing video.

At one point I did suffer from the "usage & standby being the same" issue, which I presume was down to a buggy app getting stuck. Closing all open apps and doing a hard reset cleared the problem and it hasn't reoccured.

I concur, I just got my iphone4 today and with moderate data usage to the battery, its down to 50% in 5-6 hours.

how does this work for you guys ..

v4xsvs.png

Jailbroken/unlock on ios 4.1
WIFI ON
bluetooth OFF
location service ON
push notification ON
cellular data ON
brightness 40% (auto adjust)

Brightness and Bluetooth run it down alot, Especially if you keep bluetooth on 24/7 Hope this helps =)

Thanks,
Kamikazii

Mine was brilliant, could last a week with minimal use, since 4.1 came along it seems to have taken a disliking to 3g which eats the battery fast. it was fine before. Now I have to charge it maybe twice a week. Not really complaining, just wish I didn't upgrade to 4.1.

This thread is useless if people aren't specifying their usage. Browsing drains the battery much faster than using the iPod app for example. I think most people complaining about their battery are simply paranoid.

3g on
wifi on
push mail on
brightness 50%
bluetooth off

my phone is jailbroken and unlocked on 4.0

2 hours is 3g audio streaming WHILE using tom tom navigation in the car
about 4 hours is wifi browsing
1 hour ipod
the rest is various app use

so for those earlier in the thread stating those who get over 7 hours are lying, you couldn't be further from the truth.

having said that, this has been my best experience with the battery. my usual daily usage is between 6 and 6 1/2 hours usage with 1 day standby. that is always 100% 3g data and apps though.
